The food was excellent. Everything was fresh, locally sourced, and prepared with traditional Cretan recipes. The sarikopites were delicious, the meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the local wine was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. You can taste the difference when food is made with such care.

As well as the delicious food, the location is beautiful. The taverna is in a quiet part of a small village . The peaceful setting created a truly relaxing dining experience.

We went in for an early dinner on Sunday as a company of 7 people after the recommendation of one of our friends. From the start the atmosphere was warm and the servers were friendly. The food was very tasty! Everything we tasted was fresh and prepared with attention to detail. We especially enjoyed the fried zucchini as well as the grilled chicken. The complementary sweet dish they served us at the end of the meal was something we never tried it before. Our servers informed us that it was called tzoulamas and it was native to that region of Crete. We enjoyed the over all experience very much and we can't wait to go back in the Spring, when we can enjoyed the outside area of the tavern as well! We arrived fairly early for lunch after a lovely trip around Phaistos and the staff were just so friendly and accommodating. We were the only customers at this time as early in the season. We had braised goat, stuffed peppers, Greek salad, chicken meatballs and mama burger. Everything was delicious especially with ice cold beer.
