Recently I had the pleasure of dining at Osteria Blue Kipos and it was an experience I won’t soon forget.

From the moment we walked in, the warm, rustic charm of the osteria set the perfect tone for a memorable evening. The ambiance is cozy yet refined, with a mix of Italian charm and Cretan touches that create an inviting and intimate atmosphere.

The menu is a true celebration of authentic Italian cuisine with a greek twist (local greek ingredients). Every dish we tried was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients and showcased a passion for traditional flavors. The pasta was a standout—perfectly al dente and paired with sauces that were rich, flavorful, and balanced. I highly recommend the handmade tortelloni with shrimps, mizithra, and lemon - a hearty, soulful dish that feels like it came straight from an Italian grandmother’s kitchen (all dishes were equally tasty, but pasta always has a special place in our heart. Kudos for the handmade bread)!

The wine list is equally impressive, featuring a carefully curated selection of Italian and Greek wines.

Last but not least, the owners (Alexandro and Silvia) were super friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food, they made us feel like we were dining at a friend’s house!

Such a great experience! It was amazing time with fantastic Silvia and Alessandro, awesome dinner with an additional background about dishes were served. Premium quality of products and excellent service add up to an unique and unforgettable journey to a real Italian Osteria. The old mansion of Venetian doge in Venerato with lovely landscape over the valley is part of this experience as well. Must visit place in Crete, especially when you want to find out something more about this island. Every dish was very tasty thus it’s difficult to pick up the best one but my private winner is busiate al pesto trapanese!
