Taverna Manolis — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Highly unlikely to be discovered without a friend's recommendation, it's a hidden Oasis. It is a bit tricky to find if you are not familiar with the area, so use your GPS and be sure to also make a reservation beforehand.

The menu and cost per person are fixed apparently, as the only question we were asked was whether we preferred wine or beer. Shortly after, the first dishes started arriving.

The food and service were outstanding. I found the 'reserved' (Αλλουνού) table tag...

Thanks a lot Manolis, Aristides and Costantino!!! We spent a wonderful last night in Crete at your taberna. There you eat local food among Greek people, it is not a touristic place, very friendly staff, we felt welcome from the first time. Dinner menu it's 10€ with wine, water, raki, beer... 5 starters, bread, 3-4 kind of meat and fries! We couldn't finish the food! Everything was amazing! We ended up laughing and learning Greek words with local girls and the owners🙏....

I come from Thessaloniki, so I know how we Greeks eat, even though I am not local. I have to say that the food was nice and felt homemade. What's more important is that the owner runs from table to table in order to wait all the people and still manages to grab a drink with you, as if he is your friend who has to work but still finds time to be in your company...
