This place is quite unique and incredibly good. As everybody has said there is no menu. I went there with my wife and two teenage children and he asked us if you want fish and I said yes, and then the feast began..

Brought out six small dishes of different items and they were all delicious. Rice wrapped in zucchini flour (my 17 year old’s favorite dish on Crete) a sort of anti pasta with olives, tomatoes and fete cheese, a bean dish and so much more.

Everything was tasty, but not overbearing.

Have to speaking to the owner for a little bit found out that we were both from Calabria Italy. So threw it out sausage and a huge red pepper just a treat for me. When we went to leave, I asked him if I can have some extra Italian sausage and I will pay for it. He gave me the rest of the stalk of the sausage (1/2 pound?) for free with a smile.

You can’t pay enough for service of...

Short walk from the Venizelios Hospital and perfect for a long mezze/tapas/small plates lunch. The food feels home grown and the owners are a lovely couple who make you feel really welcome. No menu I saw, because they ask if you eat meat, and then bring you their own seasonal feast of savory small plates. Especially loved the beets in olive oil and vinegar with thyme, and their Cretan version of saksuka is to die for. But don’t get attached to anything, they will bring you the loveliest things you never knew you wanted. Remember to leave room for the traditional Cretan dessert course after you have asked for the bill, and do not expect this to be a fast lunch - it’s an experience. Recommend the side yard tables in the arbor...

We have been in Heraklion for 9 days and this has been the best restaurant we have been to. The people are really nice and the food is delicious. And the best part is, I personally think, that you don’t need to choose what you are going to eat. You just say if you want fish or meat (we had meat) and they bring you food. First we had a few starters, then two meat dishes and at the end a nice dessert with raki. If we had found this restaurant earlier, we would have definitely come back to try the fish dishes. But it was a great ending to a great vacation. Thank you very much for the...

We visited Knossos and decided to try The Pine Tree Tavern a few minutes away. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly owner and knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. The restaurant is as basic as you can get. The food is real home cooking. The husband and wife team made us feel so welcomed and feed us well. He gave us a choice of fish or meat. We choose both. Getting to try everything. I honestly would say it was the best tasty meal in Crete. I just want to stress, do not go there excepting a fancy restaurant. Do expect the best Greek home cooking experience in Crete!

My girlfriend and I just happened to find this little restaurant, and it’s a hidden gem. If you’re looking for an off the beaten path spot to grab lunch or dinner make your way here. The owner came up and asked if we wanted fish or meat and told us he had no menu. With his wife cooking he continued to bring us small dishes (all tasty and delightful) and to his amazement we finished them all. We finished our experience with raki and a homemade dessert. We would recommend this homely restaurant to anyone looking for a great spot to relax and receive great food and hospitality.
