This taverna is situated on the outskirts of Anatoli. Do not be put off by the inside which serves as a storage area for drinks and fresh produce. All of the seating is at the front of the taverna, with some under a canopy of vine leaves (a welcome relief to the Cretan sun). You will receive a very friendly welcome when you sit down. The owner/hostess is also the chef and she will tell you what is on the menu on that day. Not the way we do things but we got used to this and we chose different dishes each time we ate there. The food is fantastic, the feta is to die for as are the traditional cheese pies with honey! Always greeted with a bowl of little Crete olives and sometimes with stuffed vine leaves and stuffed courgette flowers (delicious). The food and drink is very reasonably priced, you'll be surprised when the bill arrives. The locals all get in there later on in the evening and they're all so friendly. On our last evening, the taverna owner brought us complimentary drinks, she did not know it was our last night. She simply brought them over to be kind. Such a lovely lady (she's the one standing at the front with the glasses on in the photo), she really did add to the whole real...
