The most amazing meal ever! My girlfriend and I turned up after to Bilaeti after it being recommended to us by our hotel manager and they were fully booked, however, after we asked if there was any space at all, they accommodated for us and offered us free drinks for waiting!! They asked us to wait 20 minutes but we were offered a table after 5-10 minutes

The food was incredible ! Honestly the best meal throughout our Greek Island travels - we cannot recommend this place enough! The portions are huge and great value for the price. We want to come back to Ios just to eat here again - it made our whole island experience!

Not only did the staff let us have our drinks (beer and wine) on the house, they gave us free dessert, free local home-made liquor as a digestif and they did a free shot of ouzo with us! The staff are the most welcoming, friendliest people we have ever met! Our waiter in particular was so lovely (we had a lovely chat about the English TV show TopBoy).

Alright, let's break it down and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it – Contrary to the rave reviews I'm reading about Bilaeti Tavern, our last visit didn't exactly set our taste buds on fire. Everything we ordered was a bit, well, meh. Bland flavors, even standards like the Greek Salad with local cheese didn't hit the mark. Maybe it was just an off day. Maybe we should've gone for the mixed grill platter that's been racking up rave reviews. It's a bit of a shame because I fondly remember an excellent meal here a few years ago.

Now, location-wise, it's an outdoor joint smack (veranda) in the middle of the island, so plan your visit accordingly.

Now, let's talk service – a bunch of young guns handling it with finesse (hence the rating). Oh, and the portions were big, so you definitely get your money's worth. Probably the best grilled meat place on Ios island. The members of staff are extremely friendly, efficient, and very professional. Booking is essential as the place gets absolutely jam packed by 9 pm every day it is open by locals and tourists alike. Excellent range of dishes, slightly pricy (classic island prices) when compared to other restaurants on the island for the usual stuff (salads/tzatziki etc...). On the other hand, the portion size is pretty supersize. Another interesting fact - the beef steak which in most Greek Taverns comes in a certain size pieces hete gets served as a 1.5 kg tomahawk steak for the price of about 40 euro/kg. Interesting development. Otherwise atmosphere is great, good music built on a lofty vantage point along the mountain road sadly facing the road.
