Best Friends — Restaurant in Municipality of Kifisia

The food is passable, though the prices are quite steep considering the overall quality is mostly average. That said, it’s still acceptable given the location and ambiance. Best Friends used to be one of our favorite spots in the area for years, largely because of its gorgeous outdoor seating.

Unfortunately, our experience on the night of April 13, 2025, was disappointing—primarily due to the receptionist. She clearly needs proper customer service training. Her communication, especially in English, was lacking. One of the most basic elements of hospitality is to greet guests with a smile upon arrival—that didn’t happen.

When accommodating a large group, it’s reasonable to expect that all available seating options will be considered. Instead, we were offered the least desirable spot, even though it was obvious there were better alternatives. It felt like she just wanted to tuck us away in the farthest corner of an unused indoor area.

We were hosting foreign guests from Southeast Asia and had small children with us. Honestly, we felt discriminated against. There were empty outdoor tables, yet she didn’t even mention them. While we ultimately made do with the indoor seating, her tone and body language were cold and dismissive. Was there a hint of racism? It certainly felt that way.

To top it off, after we had paid the bill, a man came by and dimmed the lights without asking anyone at the table if that was okay. How eager were they to get rid of us?

I understand this is a well-established café, and realistically, this review might not change much. Still, it feels important to speak up about how unpleasant and alienating our interaction with certain staff members was on this...

UPDATE 26/09/23 I don't know whether the backlash of old customers made the difference, BUT right after the summer , BEST FRIENDS almost came back to their original menu, and changed their Chef (not sure whether the current Chef is the old one back or a totally new one). The RESULT: the food came back to its old good standards, and more attention being paid by the staff. So I have raised my review back to 5 stars, hoping that they will keep up the good work. Great place, good food. The only problem is the waiters. Not only they don't know what's served and argue with clients that some items are not served while they are, the other night we went for dinner with guests the waiter was a disaster. Couldn't get the order right four times! We tried hard to make him take the correct order. At the end he overcharged us with items from a different table. Tried to rectify but once again made a mistake with items we never ordered. Over charged 155 euro! He kept asking whether we hadn't also eaten the other table's dinner.
