Καφενείο Μεζεδοπωλείο Η Ειλικρίνεια — Restaurant in Municipality of Kissamos

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at the restaurant, we came because of the score on Google and it was a mistake. First time in Crete that I was disappointed. I ordered a 100 gram hamburger for 10.5 euros (very expensive). Before ordering I asked to know what type of meat because I don't eat pork and I was told it was beef mixed with lamb so I ordered. In practice, they served me three meatballs with a fried potato, not really a hamburger. I felt that I had been tricked but I panicked.

But when I tasted the dish it had a strange taste that I didn't like at all so I didn't continue eating, when we turned to the owner of the restaurant to get the bill we told him that the meatballs had a strange taste and we asked again what it contained and apparently it was pork with lamb. I told him that I was told that it was a completely different meat and that the dish was not to my taste. He also saw that I bit into a single patty. Any self-respecting restaurant in Crete would not have charged me for the dish, certainly if they had misled me about the type of meat and especially if I...

Great restaurant for authentic Greek food. The prices were fair about 3 to 4 Euro for starters and 6 to 10 Euro for main dishes. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. It had a fine ancient theme as well.

We had fried zucchini which is a must. Very delicious. We also had feta with peppers and olive oil. So good and another must. We then had the smoked pork chop stuffed with cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. One of the best pork chops I have ever had. Perfectly cooked it was only 6.50 euro when in the states it would have been 25 to 30. We also had the lamb special. It was ok. Nothing amazing but not grosa, just ok. For dessert we went traditional and had pastry looking things with cheese and herbs inside and dipped in honey. They had great potential but the herbs were a bit weird for us so they were not our favorite but we were glad we tried them.

Εξαιρετικοί μεζέδες, νοστιμότατα πιάτα, κρασί και μπύρες, στις οποίες συμπεριλαμβάνονται και οι εκπληκτικές νοστιμότατες ντόπιες μπύρες. Προσεγμένα πιάτα τα οποία αν καθυστερήσετε μπορεί να "χάσετε" κάποια από αυτά! Πολύ ωραίος χώρος, ανακαινισμένη πετρόκτιστη κατασκευή με έντονο το στοιχείο της παράδοσης. Πολύ ευγενικό και εξυπηρετικό προσωπικό, ταχύτητα, χαμόγελο και όρεξη. Άνετοι χώροι, εύκολη πρόσβαση σε αναπηρικά αμαξίδια και υπέροχος διακριτικός φωτισμός. Μοναδική ένσταση η πλημμελής καθαριότητα και η δυσοσμία στις τουαλέτες όσες φορές (και είναι πολλές!!) και να επισκεφθήκαμε το μέρος, για την οποία είμαι σίγουρος ότι οι υπεύθυνοι θα μεριμνήσουν.

Ενημέρωση 2021. Κατακόρυφη πτώση στην ποιότητα κάποιων πιάτων. Το κλασικό ψημένο ψωμί, μπαγιάτικο - απάντηση σερβιτόρας " μα το ψήνουμε ".... Κολοκυθοκεφτέδες που το κολοκύθι σπαρταράει και κάνει κρατς που έλεγε κι ο άλλος. Οι τουαλέτες παραμένουν άθλιες, ποικιλία κρεατικών για έξι ( 6 ) άτομα με ένα σουβλάκι χοιρινό, ένα μπιφτέκι και ένα κοτόπουλο. Ποικιλία κρεατικών για 6 άτομα με 70 % πανσέτα... Το κοτόπουλο με τα μανιτάρια αλά κρεμ παραμένει εξαιρετικό. Με αγάπη πάντα, συνέλθετε.

Update 2021. Vertical drop in the quality of some dishes. The classic baked bread, stale - waitress's answer "but we bake it" .... Zucchini balls so undercooked you could hear the crispiness of it... The toilets remain miserable. A mixed grill for six (6) people with only one pork skewer, one burger ( bifteki ) and one piece of skewered chicken, some other pieces of meat and 70% pancetta ... The chicken with mushrooms remains excellent. Always with love, come to your senses.

Exceptional appetizers "mezedes", tasty delicious dishes, excellent wine and beers, including amazing local beers. Well prepared dishes that, if one comes to visit a bit late, may lose some of them! Very nice space, renovated stone building full of tradition. Very polite and helpful staff, speed, smile and eagerness. Comfortable spacious, easy access to wheelchairs and great discreet lighting. Sole objection the lack of proper cleanliness of the WC and the presence of bad odour in the toilets all of the times (and there were plenty!) that we visited the place, situation for which we are sure that the management will take...
