We really enjoyed our meal at Sotos’.
It’s a lovely restaurant/ouzeri, with tasty, traditional food and nice views by the sea.
The setting is really welcoming and takes you a few years back, with tables by the sea, old fishing boats and octopus drying under the sun.
There’s a good variety of ouza to choose from, which is a sign that the place knows what’s up.
We ordered many dishes to share, including some local delicacies like the Lerian oil cheese (really tasty and salty, perfect pair for ouzo) and the interesting fish pastirma (this was a new fish & spices combination for us, but we enjoyed it). We also had mussels, almyra, cheese pies, courgette sticks, Greek salad, octopus and calamari. Everything was really tasty, felt like home-made and fresh.
We also had 3 desserts, a “tiramisu” with pistachio, a mango ice cream and singing with cheese and berries (we forgot to take photos of those). Everything was tasty and complemented the meal, but I would personally prefer something more traditional as a dessert option. I have to state that the tiramisu wasn’t proper tiramisu, but tasty nevertheless.
I would definitely recommend Sotos’ for a great...
Read moreHmm… i have a mixed feeling about our visit to sotos. Lets phrase out the whole storry: We went to Sotos especially to eat fresh fish. We asked whatvthey have and got Tuna and sea brass offered. We decided to go with sea brass and we were told it was enough for two to share. Then the waiter asked if we would like it as filet and we agreed. As a starter we took a Greek salad and some white wine. The wine was sour like we never had it on our 3 weeks trip on Geeek islands, the salad was good. The fish was a filet as announced and it looked more as one out of the fridge. But it was good. We did not get new plates so we had to have in the sauce of the salad. And it was far away from a fresh fish. The waiter did not show up for at least 20min even though onöy 3 tables were taken… btw: our bill was low. We would have been ready to pay good for a good fish. As mentioned… a mixed experience which did not meet our...
Read moreWe went as a couple on a summer evening. Our reservation was for 8:30 PM, and we arrived a bit early. Although the restaurant was nearly empty, the woman who greeted us was rude and made us feel uncomfortable for arriving ahead of time.
It took over 30 minutes before anyone even came to take our order, and despite several tables (mostly large groups) arriving after us, they were all served well before us. We constantly had to flag someone down just to get basic things, drinks, clean plates, even our food, while the groups around us received attentive service.
We ended up leaving after the appetizers because we felt completely ignored. It's a shame, because the location is beautiful, an intimate seaside setting, and the little we ate was genuinely delicious. But overall, the experience was disappointing... the smell of the toilets, the lack of fair service, and the harsh white...
