ta kalamia (the canes) — Restaurant in Municipality of Marousi

Initial comment when I first visited this restaurant : Great location, interesting fish food, nice atmosphere and fair service. Definitely deserves a visit !

Subsequent comment after 3 months of the first visit :

After being there another 2 times, and referring the restaurant to a number of friends, today the surprise came from the owner; I am quoting the dialogue :

After the end of my dinner :

excuse me, just to ask, is there any treat (this is the must practice in every above medium level Greek fish restaurant) Owner : I don’t have anything today… This is not the right answer for a restaurant of this level… -Owner : can I offer a masticha liqueur? No, thank you, you should have done it before without my notice..

I have never given a place a bad review, but the service of this restaurant was very disappointing. It took them nearly twenty minutes to get the order. Then they took them another twenty minutes to bring half of the appetizers, and after over an hour since our order, not everything had been served. When we asked for the check and told them that their service was disappointing, the waiter's response what that that since it was a peak hour, thar was the best they could do. That despite thebfact that when we arrived, the place was only at less than 60% of capacity and were quite a number of tables empty. Food was ok not nothing special. I have been to Kalamia a few times now to the point where I have fomed an opinion of the place; it's an amazing seafood restaurant. Everything is so unbelievably fresh. You can tell that the management does not cut corners: the french fries are cut by hand and taste exactly like homemade and the rest of the dishes are up to the same standard. Do yourself a favor and try the sea urchin soup, it is one of the best things you'll ever taste. I recommend this place to anyone that likes seafood, you'll be amazed.
