Oinosofies — Restaurant in Municipality of Messini

A hidden diamond in the town of Messini. It doesn't catch the eye since it's located inside a narrow alley facing the main square. We chose to eat there on the first and last day of our summer holidays, trusting Google reviews, and it indeed justifies the 4.9-star rating! Delicious food, traditionally cooked by the hands of the women of the house, I bet! The owner of the place, whose name I cannot recall (sorry), is very communicative and hospitable, with always a smile on his face, and directness - dare I say unusual features of the Peloponnesian people. These people who run this tavern know their job and they do it exceptionally. It's not a surprise that this place has some really loyal customers. The only downside is it's location, since it doesn't have some great view to gaze at, but then again, it's not a big deal; it definitely makes amends with its high quality and value for money food. With oinosofies tavern, we found a welcoming and comfortable place with delicious greek food! We were welcomed warmly with a handshake by the owner, who also gave us some explanation about the menu and recommended some further dishes, they had on that day. We were surprised by the variety of vegetarian options and chose one vegetarian dish (gemista) and one meat dish (pork stew). They both were excellent, as well as our starters (tzatiki and zucchini balls). We decided to choose the restaurant after checking reviews ⭐️ We ordered boiled pork, recommended by the waitress. It was a good choice. The food was very tasty, crisp and well cooked. -for the fact that We asked for rice, and got fries, which were quite greasy. Salad of fresh vegetables tasty and filling. Complemented by homemade wine, which was quite good.

Atmosphere of the restaurant okay, although upgrading the interior would certainly help.
