Zorbas Traditional Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Messini

Zorba – now, the food was really good, but the service was so s* that we didn’t eat here again. I cannot remember if this restaurant offered us any water, but you end up paying for it anyway, it’s always on the bill. I had the lamb chops which were packed with amazing flavor and my other half had the meatballs with tomato sauce. Both of these dishes were really, really good, I especially liked my lamb chops, which didn’t even taste like lamb, they tasted amazing. As I mentioned, the serious downside was the service which was done by the owner. He’s old and you can find a picture of him if you Google Zorba Agios Andreas and you’ll find a picture of his restaurant and you’ll see he has a website too. The owner was grumpy from beginning to finish, the other server that came and brought us a bottle of water and glasses, basically slammed the glasses on the table. Really rude service, no one smiled, despite their website saying service with a smile, it was really bad. We felt most unwelcome. When we finished eating and were waiting for a good 15-20 minutes, I raised my hand to get the waiter to come over, instead I only found the owner and he came over, quite furiously and asked what is it. I asked for the bill and he left. He came back a few moments later, and didn’t move until I took out money from my wallet. This is rude and uncalled for. You simply don’t stand next to someone, to take their money, while you’re breathing down their neck. He was just standing there and staring at me. I offered him the money and even gave him a tip, even though he did not deserve it and I tried to get the receipt, so I can have it for my records, and when I reached for it he pulled his hand back and turned around and left in a storm only to come back 3 minutes later with a printed receipt and was very upset about it. I don’t know what his problem is, maybe we didn’t order enough to keep his business afloat, maybe it was because we aren’t Greek or because he wanted to sleep and hoped no customers would have eaten that afternoon at his restaurant.
