Overall a very good place for dinner! We were passing by from Monastery of Vossakos and their inside environment was very clean and welcome. We were 8 people with 2 children (4 & 6 year’s old). We didn’t have any booking before we go but they manage to create space for us. We ordered the village’s well known meal of pork steaks and pork on spit, oven potatoes, Cretan Greek salats, “dolmadakia” (vine leaves stuffed with rise), “gemista” (stuffed vegetables), wild green season’s salats and feta cheeses. Everything were really tasty and we get informed from the family that have the taverna that the pork meat that they use comes directly from their own farm. This is sth that people who likes to eat meat… really appreciate. Also the veggie plates were really good and they explained why the “dolmadakia” is a rare and valuable meal. Because the vine leaves 🍁 are available only during the summer and they need to be at very specific state so as to be tasty when you are going to create “dolmas”. We will definitely...
Read moreWe have been to Drosia many times on a Sunday when the place is heaving for the famous pork on the spit. Last year on a weekday we stumbled upon this particular taverna and stopped for a much needed drink. Very pleasant surroundings, quiet and tranquil compared to the bustle of a Sunday. This year, on a Friday we called there again. We were the only customers until the police car drew up and 4 officers of the law sat down for a wonderful meal. We decided to eat there too. The best decision we could have made. The food was excellent and topped off with a delicious desert on the house and raki to follow. The owner Panogiotis was charming and attentive and actually remembered us from last year when he had stopped for a drink. The place was clean and the toilets were of a very high standard. We highly recommend this taverna. We shall...
Read moreOne of our favourite restaurants. Food was amazing. We arrived late for lunch but the owner was pleasant and friendly. We eat so much as the food was so delicious. For starters we had the famous fava (made from broad beans) so delicious, we also had a local cheese which was really tasty. For mains we had pork skewer and a massive veal steak all grilled and served with home made chips plus salad. When we asked for the bill we were presented with the most delicious deserts ice cream with these fried sweet balls and honey, as full as we were we could not resist. Plus a plate with watermelon and raki which was much needed after all that food. Very...
