an incredible, unforgettable beach. photos of this beach were what initially drew my husband and i to visit milos. while the “beach” portion located at the end of the inlet is quite small, there’s plenty of relatively flat and smooth rock to lay/sit on along the water. we read reviews before going and decided to visit other beaches during the day and visit sarakiniko at sunset to avoid the crowds that other reviewers had mentioned. the light on the rocks at sunset turned out to be breathtaking, and there were hardly any people around. the water was calm and crystal clear. we loved it so much, we decided to go again at sunrise a few days later. there were more people around at that time of day, including a whole crew of photographers, videographers, and a small plane doing several very low overhead flybys for a shoot, but the beach was plenty big so we didn’t really cross paths with anyone. the inlet is nice for casual and relaxed swimming, and the caves on the other side would appeal more to those wanting to cliff jump. (i recommend trying both!) as well, be sure to wear supportive shoes for the walk down. the ground is uneven and it’s easy to trip/slip if you aren’t careful. it’s also quite rough for bare feet in some places if you’re climbing out of the water, so keep that in mind.

Sarakiniko Beach is not just a beach; it's a surreal, otherworldly landscape that defies description. This lunar-like expanse of white volcanic rock formations is a masterpiece sculpted by nature, and a must-visit for any traveler to Milos. The moment you lay eyes on Sarakiniko, you'll be transported to another planet. The stark contrast between the blinding white rock and the crystal-clear turquoise waters is simply breathtaking. The smooth, sculpted rock formations invite exploration, and the numerous hidden coves and caves offer a sense of adventure. While Sarakiniko might not be the most comfortable beach for sunbathing (there's little shade), it's an absolute paradise for photographers. Every angle is a postcard-perfect scene. The beach is also a fantastic spot for snorkeling, with vibrant marine life thriving in the clear waters. A visit to Sarakiniko is an experience like no other. It's a place where you can truly escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in the extraordinary. Whether you're seeking adventure, stunning photography opportunities, or simply a unique and unforgettable experience, Sarakiniko Beach delivers on all fronts. I wholeheartedly recommend this natural wonder to anyone visiting Milos. It's a place that will leave a lasting impression.

Unique earth's spot, although it feels not from this planet. Easy to access by car, and short walk from the parking or bus stop, through the evenly rocky surface that appears to be perfectly designed by nature as walkway. The landscape is incredible no matter where you see it. It does not seem to be too crowded even in summer. Of course you won't find a shadow or place for a beach umbrella very easily but there is one option with a bit of sand, it is better to just wear a big hat to enjoy the view on one of the big rocks. Really nice for a swim on the crystal water, but not shallow, it is deep and can get rough near shore. Many spots for dive jumps, just with care because the sharp edges of this rocks can cut the skin. The only big negative is the big yatchs allowed to tender few meters from the shore, ruining the natural landscape, because of rich but very selfish people with lack of government law enforcement about preserving the nature and landscape, a big shame. Last tip, there is a very nice kiosk in the parking area, with water, fruit, food, refreshments, coffee.

Such a magnetic looking beach, just a short drive from town. Catching sunrises here is just amazing. The hues of the sky to the moon like terrain. This beach is appropriate for all ages, there is a shallow part that perfect for kids to play in just right where the caves are. This point is sandy or small pebble beach easy for kids sit in and play with the sand. Further down is for those whom are decent swimmers as the ledges to jump off of vary due to the tide. Of course this is a swim/jump into the water at your own risk. The water is at least 15 ft + deep so if you jump in, be aware you swimming into the smaller cove to climb up the rock face, which can be slippery. Overall it’s beautiful day or night. Nighttime will best during a full moon, to have its glow reflect off it terrain. Also from when I went I did not see any restrooms.

Beautiful beach, but really needs some posted warning signs. Stinging sea anemones are all over the rocks in the shallow areas (they look like green plants). Accidentally brushed up against some while floating in the water, according the pharmacist/internet I’ve got a week of pain and burning ahead. It sounds like there are 20+ cases of stings at the beech every day, but unless you specifically search for it it doesn’t come up. The water is colder than any other beech I’ve been to on Milos, definitely come early day or evening as there is no shade except for when the sun is at a low enough angle to use the rocks for shade. Parking isn’t bad but it can be quite the walk once the beach gets busy as you are just parking alongside a narrow road. There is one tree for shade by the bus stop

Sarakiniko Beach is my favorite spot in Milos, perhaps of all the islands we visited in Greece. Its beauty is unique and out of this world! It is a large area with different areas for swimming and even cliff jumping. Do wear proper footwear to make it easier to navigate and climb areas. It is so beautiful that we came here twice. The best times are early in the day or late afternoon, although, for swimming, morning seems better as the waves are calmer. The waves pick up late afternoon, but there is a cove with a tidepool that is good for swimming. I bet there is a spot suitable for watching the Sunset. We did not wait for it because we were so tired from exploring the beautiful island of Milos. Visit Sarakiniko; it will be a lifetime experience!
