The food was average for a Greek seafood restaurant. Fresh hand cut fries, fish on the grill etc. No complaints about that at all, it was a nice meal and service was good but in our opinion it’s not worth the drive. The prices were also 4/5euro above average across Naxos which we felt was slightly unfair considering we had some exceptional meals in Chora for less!

We quickly realised after leaving that we fell victim to the owner implying you leave a review for him and therefore boosting his appeal on TripAdvisor. We get it and understand this from business perspective and from other reviewers who want to help out a small local business, but for us as customers to drive so far based on the glowing reviews, we felt a little misled and then a little overcharged to make it worse.

When we parked up the business beside was trying to stop us from going there and we couldn’t understand why, we thought they must just be really mean and want to take customers. But I feel they may have known we were being little misled by the reviews that are imposed on people.. anyway that’s just an assumption. You can make your own mind up if...

A wild experience nonetheless. We were really excited to try this place given all the great reviews. When we pulled up to the parking lot & a woman from the restaurant next door was waving frantically at us trying to get us to go to her restaurant. We walked down to the beach & enjoyed the beautiful views of the ocean. It was quiet & peaceful. We then walked backed to the Tavern. The food was mediocre at best. We had Tzaziki, wine, olives, zucchini balls, and fish. As we were walking back to our car, the woman at the restaurant next door yelled at us for not coming to her restaurant, not the fault of Ntoyzenia, but affected the experience. There is definitely an awkward competitive vibe between the two restaurants and the owners. It was a unique experience as we were the only couple present at the restaurant and the views from our table were beautiful. The drive to the restaurant was the best part. In 4 nights in Naxos I’d say this was our least favorite food we had on the island despite the great views. I wish we could have agreed with the other 5 star reviews. I hope your experience is better than ours should you...

Cozy family style restaurant next to the water and the beach. I couldn’t recommend it more! The fish was fresh, selected in front of us from the fridge, by the family! The staff is very friendly and attentive to the customers.

Food is totally delicious - we had a greek salad with local cheese on top and shared a dorado with some potatoes. Portions are pretty big so make sure you take that into account! :) The family also offered complimentary grape dessert, which is a very nice, refreshing, way of ending the meal!

Definitely a special find in the corner of Naxos, worth the drive there. Additionally, you can relax on the quiet beach after the food! The blue water and colorful pebbles create a special atmosphere.

PS: Don’t be put off by the apparent rivalry between the two taverna’s in this location. Ntoyzenia has a far better position with breathtaking views of the beach, which is why we chose it. I am sure you can’t go wrong with either of them, but we were extremely happy with our choice...

If I could, I would rate this significantly higher. To start, the drive into Lionas is worth it alone. The long, winding roads were absolutely stunning, and coming into the small town, the views were breathtaking. Ntoyzenia has been in business since 1981, and the owners - a husband and wife duo - were so welcoming. The food was simple, but not lacking in flavour and love. The Greek salad was one of the best we've had in Naxos, the spinach pies flakey and tender, and the fresh mackerel - wow! If I wasn't trying to be vegetarian, this is the restaurant that would convince me to eat more fish. tl;dr - the drive is worth it, the food fresh and delicious, and the owners the most incredible people. Hands down one of the best meals we had on Naxos (and absolutely lives up to the hype seen in other reviews).

How can one tell if the food is good? You’re right next to the beach and a treasure trove of stunning views and your attention is taken captive by the smells and sights coming from the grill. And when the freshly caught fish now grilled to perfection and sumptuous Naxian salad reach your table, you curiosity will be repaid with a most satisfying meal. Only thing that rivals the deliciousness of the food was the graciousness and positive vibes from the family-owned taverna. Grandfather cooked the fish, the son was the ever-mindful host, and the grandson was the server and bused the table. If you go to Naxos, make the trek to Lionas and this charming place. It may be the highlight of your day.
