We travelled approximately 10km to visit this establishment... in hindsight, we’d have saved time throwing €50 down the nearest storm drain! Disturbingly poor! The worst or 2nd worst meal I’ve had in 42 years visiting Corfu & Greece. Alarm bells should have perhaps been ringing when it became apparent that no Greek locals were eating here. The owner/waiter was pushing the moussaka ‘special’ - it certainly wasn’t! It arrived tepid, had no flavour or seasoning, was as large and heavy as a house brick and probably less edible than the construction block. I ate about 1/5th of the ‘special’; left the remainder of my plate and a full glass of beer (2nd) that I’d just ordered. My wife had a pork chop which was swimming in and impregnated by ‘grease’. We informed the owner/waiter that the food was very poor... paid in full and departed. That poor beer still might be sat there unloved and uncared for. On the way home, I had to pull the car over on two occasions so as my wife could be sick. All she’d had to drink was water... so the proprietors can’t say she/we’d had too much to drink. We will never return to this...

We visited many restaurants in the north of the island during our stay, but Ilias Taverna truly stood out – so much so that we chose to return for our final evening. The food was outstanding: everything we tried was fresh, authentic, and prepared with obvious care. The menu offers traditional Greek dishes, and you can really taste the difference in quality.

The setting is charming and peaceful, with a lovely terrace shaded by grapevines and a beautiful view. We really appreciated the tranquil atmosphere, which made for a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived.
