Unfortunately, it's not a 5 from me. I'll elaborate.
It was a party of 3.
Parking was available and the place was easy to find. We were friendly greeted by the hostess who then asked if we wanted to sit in or outside.
Once seated, we were asked if we wanted to have still or sparkling water. (You could argue that this is a grey area, but it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted to have a bottle of water to begin with. The impression that I got from the way she asked, was that the drink was on the house. It's €4 for a bottle of still water, by the way).
We then got the menu, ordered drinks and food. We got our drinks, and then soon after some welcome platter. Small toasts with dips and Greek liquor.
Soon after, we got our starters and then followed by our mains. We had fisherman's soup, shrimps wrapped in bacon, grilled octopus, sea bass ceviche, seafood risotto and chicken halloumi. Everything was pleasant. Good portion, well seasoned, nothing to complain about the food.
On service:
In between everything, along with 2 other hosts, they regularly came to check if the food is good and everything is okay and say hi - as well as to light the mosquito repellent and warn us that it might stink. We thought it was very friendly and thoughtful of them.
It was a chilly evening. I was truly hoping that they would have come and asked if the temperature was not too bothersome, or offered some blankets just in case.
Anyway.. The hosts got a special shout out for letting me keep the black stones, though! 🖤🖤🖤
Atmosphere:
The music on the background was a tad too loud for our liking, but to each their own and we weren't the only customers there. There was a cat begging for food, but I'm a cat person, so I am used to the constant meowing and saying no to her.
Why not 5*?
For me being consistent and upfront about your business is key.
I just hate to see "unknown" charges coming later on my bill without knowing what they are. A few days after our dinner, I checked the bills and saw that there are 3x €4 cover charge added to the bill. Couldn't tell what they are. Us just...
Read moreTHIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT REVIEW. It’s a lovely minimalist spot, food needs some improvement in taste and execution. The service is friendly but with some lack of the minimum knowledge of hospitality such as pouring constantly white wine in big quantities in our glasses when the temperature is 30 degrees. You pour it little by little so it stays cold in the bucket.
We bought a bottle of wine which i realised was oxidate/flat and Kevin (possibly the manager) kindly replaced it for another one with no fuss. Not sure whether he thought it was actually flat or he just wanted to be polite, regardless, he did the right thing and we appreciate it.
Wines are pretty pricey and we were not impressed by the quality. We got s 40€ bottle.
I understand it’s a fairly new business. it’s not cheap and i believe they should focus more on execution than margins at this stage (i am also a restaurant owner). Said that, i appreciate they are trying hard and i hope you reader will give them a chance. Again, my review is not a complaint. The traditional dessert was the best thing we ate, but it was 14 euros. I would still...
Read moreThe service at Lasmari was as expected, with a welcoming and friendly server. The food was visually appealing but fell short in taste. The aubergine with onions were excessively salty, while the dumplings were dry and chewy. We also tried the steak and a chicken and halloumi dish, both of which were disappointing—easily the worst quality and taste we’ve encountered this week. In comparison, other restaurants like Oliva, White House, Squirrel, and Toulas offer far superior experiences and are much more deserving of a visit. Lasmari is overpriced for the quality it delivers. However, it might be worth considering if you’re simply looking for a place to have a drink and enjoy the view.
Please note reply from restaurant: To confirm I said the food was visually pleasing. This means it was well presented (photo of starter attached). My issue was with the quality of the product based on the high price charged.
I ate the meal for two reasons one, although it was not the standard I would expect for the price, it was edible and two, I try to avoid wasting food.
Please also note the cover charge...
