Starters were great. We tried the Yialos saganaki with the red pepper jam which was incredibly tasty. The flavour combination between the salty cheese and sweet peppers works well. We also had the fried calamari as starters which was cooked nicely. I had the breki meze for my main course which is like a spicy drunken pork stew. It came with fries which for me didnât really work well but you could ask for roasted potatoes instead and the chef will probably do it for you. I didnât know I could do that, but wouldâve worked much better with mash or roast potatoes as the fries got a bit soggy due to the stew sauce. Regardless, I enjoyed it - the meat was very tender and there was lots of flavour in the dish. There is a cat around which will act like a dog begging for food but only if you play with it at first, which I did. I donât mind cats and this one was extremely friendly. The staff is very welcoming. Location is quite remote and roads are super narrow with lots of potholes, but the restaurant has its own parking which is great so we didnât mind driving there. Itâs also really quiet, and this place is a really traditional Greek taverna. If you walk down from the restaurant there is a nice view of the ocean with some benches where you can probably...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Taverna Yialos in Corfu on multiple occasions, and each visit proved to be an outstanding experience. From the moment you step into the place, the atmosphere exudes warmth and welcoming vibes that perfectly match the hospitality of the owner who is genuinely friendly and attentive.
The food, I must say, was nothing short of exceptional. I recommend the spicy feta and fried octopus, both of which were cooked to perfection, flavorful and succulent, a testament to the chef's culinary expertise. The homemade white wine was a delightful accompaniment, adding a whole new layer of depth to the dining experience.
An additional convenience is their acceptance of cards, making payments hassle-free. If you're visiting Corfu and looking for an unforgettable gastronomic experience, Taverna Yialos should not be missed. It's a little gem of a place that offers not only great food and wine but also a slice of authentic Greek...
Read moreThe food was really nice however the service let it down significantly. Our starters arrived with our mains as the chef had apparently burnt them originally and the new batch had caught on the bottom so had a bitter taste to them! The service was slow overall waiting a long time for plates to be cleared etc. Whilst we were in the restaurant every other table was given complementary watermelon to finish however we were missed from this. It was our first time visiting so perhaps only for their regulars?! To top it off, after asking for the bill twice, the price we were given jumped up when we went to pay by 10%! When we asked why the original price was for cash but we had not been told of the difference and it was now too late to pay by cash as it had been rung through the till!
Disappointing overall, good food but service left...
