I recently dined at Mela & was deeply disappointed by the quality of both the food and the overall experience. We ordered ceviche and a salad, with a couple of drinks and unfortunately, both were far below any reasonable standard. The salad arrived wilted and clearly not fresh something you’d expect from a grocery store past its expiration date, not from a restaurant. But the real issue was the ceviche. I’ve traveled the world and sampled ceviche in many countries, but I can honestly say this was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted & not in a good way. The fish was off, the texture was mushy, and the flavors were just wrong & did not resemble ceviche. It was weird ‘ off & drenched in some kind of vinaigrette. . It lacked the freshness and brightness you expect from ceviche, and to make matters worse, we believe it gave us food poisoning. Both my dining companion and I fell ill shortly after the meal, and it’s safe to say this was not a coincidence. If this dish reflects the standards of this restaurant, it should be taken off the menu immediately. I truly don’t understand how anyone can rave about the food here. Based on this experience, I would never return, and I certainly can’t recommend it to anyone looking for a decent meal. My recommendation is to get a better chef, taste your food & compare it to other great restaurants in the city & make adjustments I hope they take this as a...
Read morePlace is beautiful and nicely decorated. We came here few times before for coffee, which is also good.
However, I can’t say the same about the breakfast experience. We decided to give it a try to their “Mela Benedict”, their own version of Eggs Benedict (my favourite breakfast option wherever I go).
Disappointed to say the least. It is a good idea, but it fails deeply in the execution. The potato croquette is too soft (no crispy); the egg was too liquid, not paoched; the hollandaise sauce was just too watery; it was served cold; and eventho on the menu it does not mention it, it has a HUGE amount of caramelized onion (in the picture), which I do not like and if it was mentioned on the menu I would have not taken that option or asked to remove it.
When asked if the food was nice, we mentioned the issue and that it was not mentioned on the menu and the reply we got was “oh, usually people like it, it is a matter of personal taste”.
Clearly the service is not up to the standards they pretend to be, it needs a lot of work to match the looks of the place with the...

The owner and chef have created a delightful menu of delicacies that will pleasure your palate. The special cut rib eye steak rivals the best Spanish chuletón. The American style spare ribs were true to their name. We started with the wild mushroom appetizer whose light seasoning and buttery texture foretold great things for the upcoming dinner. Our dinner was tended to by friendly and well trained servers. Every course brought its own appropriate dinnerware. Then to make the experience more enjoyable the dining area was flowing with smooth jazz and chill music. This establishment caters best to discerning diners looking for something more than the traditional style menu. We will return in summer to enjoy their beach...
