Rizinia — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

We stopped here on our scooter we rented for a day and found it to be one of our favourite place we visited on holiday and possibly one of my favourite and most beautiful restaurants I've been to. As soon as we walked through the doors we were in awe of the surroundings and had the most amazing views overlooking the mountains and forests from our table. It was so peaceful with just the sounds of nature and gentle greek music playing. The food was absolutely delicious - we had the dolmadakia rice parcels and kotopouko chicken and chips, which were both better than others we'd already tasted in Crete. It was served quickly and bought out by the owners sweet and polite children. We were then treated to some home made cake which was again very good and a lovely touch. I would love to come back...

Probably the best food we had on Kreta, every single thing we ordered was incredibely tasty especially staka and stuffed zuchinni flowers, and the service was excellent! The beautiful terrace with the amazing mountain view rounds up the whole experience, it felt like we were having dinner at someone's home. I would like to thank the staff for making us feel so welcomed! They quickly solved the wasp issue with firing up some coffee, the smoke kept the wasps away:) We would like to come back during our trip, or maybe some other time in the future. I have been going to Taverna " RIZINIA" since July 2003. And I will keep going until my last of days! There is absolutely nothing you wouldn't like, as soon as you enter in the premises, until you leave thinking when will be the "next time". The owners, a family of three generations, will welcome you as of their own. Their "secret" recipe of happiness is hiding in the food which is made with love and years of experience. The pure smile and the willingness is their trade mark, which is very very rare in any touristic place as years go by. I will leave all the rest for you to find and you won't be disappointed! Well, here is to the next 20 years...
