This was our favorite spot on crete to eat at. It is a hidden gem, but if you ask any of the locals they all know of Vasillis and Katerina's lovely spot. It is a speaking menu because it is all freshly grown and raised right there on their farm. They make it all including their own wine and rakis. Every night we were greeted and treated like family. Vasillis would come over with water and bread and let us know what was on the menu. We ate here for four nights and everything we had was absolutely divine. They have two adorable dogs Irma and Mop who are super sweet and greet you upon arrival. There are people there from all over. We would be invited to join other tables and chat with others because it is just that kind of environment. When you've finished they will bring you a rakis which he calls your medicine to keep the doctor away and a plate of fruit or yogurt and honey for dessert. A fantastic environment you can eat out on the patio or inside and just enjoy the atmosphere! We would most definitely recommend enjoying...
Read moreExcellent meal cooked by Vasillis and his wife. This is the most “home-cooked” meal that I had in Crete and I loved that about it. There was no menu, just a list of 5-7 things that they could make. Super kid friendly too, and they thought hard about what a four year old would most like.
In the end, the lamb in lemon sauce was excellent, they had a Greek type of ratatouille that was also top notch, and great courgette flowers stuffed with cheese and fried.
The meatballs were a bit dry/firm, but were clearly handmade and of great quality.
There are a couple of dogs on the property too, which I really enjoyed having around, “pot” and “Irma”, very friendly and added family energy...
Read moreWe had a great time. The two of us were the only guests right until we left (about 7pm to 9pm on a Tuesday in September). We chose lamb with artichokes and chicken with okra from the "talking menu" Vasilis himself, although everything sounded fantastic. The dishes were in much appreciated home cooking style, where I imagine stew like pots having simmered for hours. Vasilis is welcoming, funny and loves to chat. He gave us space to eat, but joined us again after for fruit, raki and post dinner talk about wherever the conversation lead us. The terras is cute, quiet on a hillside surrounded by trees. Recommended if you like a layed back home...
