Taverna Hovoli — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

A lovely taverna situated on the road from Rethymnon to Arcadi. The food was lovely and reasonably priced and there were some great vegan choices. The owner was very friendly and helpful and remembered our dietary needs from our first visit. The location is lovely too with views of the mountains. There were some lovely cats there....with kittens. They seemed to be in good condition though and friendly, but I do wish people would neuter their cats. Tourists who visit Crete regularly, like to see the same cats...

We had a good meal and decent service here on Sunday, gave four stars then.

But when we returned here a few days later on Thursday, the waitress (a much younger person then on sunday) seemed completely uninterested in providing any service and the food was terrible. Dry meat that tasted like warmed up leftovers. We will certainly never return here after this...
