Delicious and beautiful.
We had a bountiful feast of many flavors.
We ordered the stuffed vine leaves that came warmed and tossed in a tomato sauce… tangy tzatziki with fresh baked pita that just the right amount of crunch, feta stuffed and roasted green peppers that tasted fresh picked, chicken avocado salad with a mild mustard yogurt dressing that was divine, and for the grand finale we ordered the Mixed Grill. A heaping pile of lamb/pork chops, chicken, rabbit, and burger grilled to perfection. We switched out the fried potatoes for grilled veggies and they were surprisingly scrumptious.
Our server was very kind and accommodating. The taverna was packed with a bustling family atmosphere for sunset but still had many tables available.
After the four of us had devoured all we could we packed up half the feast to take with us for yet another dinner covered!
We were then presented with two plates of orange cake with vanilla ice cream. Our children were ecstatic and we were thankful for the kids area outside for them to jump their dessert away.
The bill was only $61 euros and I’d have happily paid double that for the experience.
If you are taking the mountain pass to the south of Crete from Rethmyno it is an absolute must see.

Absolutely beautiful place with a very friendly owner who speaks English very well. He’s welcoming and there’s a fantastic kids area too! The views are gorgeous and the whole place has a lovely, welcoming vibe. We found it by chance and we’re so glad that we did. They have the sweetest freshly squeezed OJ and lovely coffee. They also serve local delicacies which are favoured by all. The owner also lives here and told me it’s very popular with the locals more than tourists. This makes me want to come back again as I don’t like touristy places. It’s really lovely and well worth a stop for a meal or a drink if you’ve had a long drive. Or you could even stop on your way home from the gorge or beach. It’s so nice! I’ve taken lots of photos to show just how lovely it is. We will be back! 10 stars from me!

To miejsce to prawdziwy raj na ziemi! 🌄 Już sam widok zapiera dech w piersiach – panorama gór i dolin jest tak piękna, że aż trudno oderwać oczy. Ale to, co nas najbardziej wzruszyło, to ludzie – wspaniali, serdeczni, którzy potraktowali nas nie jak klientów, ale jak część swojej rodziny. ❤️
Jedzenie było absolutnie przepyszne – każda potrawa przygotowana z sercem i smakiem, którego nie zapomnimy. Zjedliśmy świeżą sałatkę grecką 🍅🥒🫒, soczyste mięsa z grilla (kurczak, kotleciki, wieprzowina) 🍖, domowego burgera 🍔, chrupiące frytki 🍟 i na deser cudowne ciasto kokosowe z lodami 🍨🥥. Każdy kęs był prawdziwą ucztą – wszystko świeże, aromatyczne i przyrządzone tak, że chciałoby się wracać tu codziennie.
To było doświadczenie, które zostaje w sercu – piękne widoki, pyszne jedzenie i ludzie, którzy sprawiają, że czujesz się wyjątkowo. Wszystko na ogromny PLUS! Dziękujemy za ten niezapomniany czas. 🙏💖

This place is a true paradise on earth! 🌄 The view alone takes your breath away – the panorama of the mountains and valleys is so beautiful that it’s hard to look away. But what touched us the most were the people – wonderful, warm-hearted, who treated us not as customers, but as part of their family. ❤️
The food was absolutely delicious – every dish prepared with love and unforgettable flavor. We had a fresh Greek salad 🍅🥒🫒, juicy grilled meats (chicken, meat patties, pork) 🍖, a homemade burger 🍔, crispy fries 🍟, and for dessert, an amazing coconut cake with ice cream 🍨🥥. Every bite was a real feast – fresh, full of flavor, and cooked in a way that makes you want to come back every single day.
It was an experience that stays in your heart – stunning views, delicious food, and people who make you feel truly special. Everything gets a huge PLUS! Thank you for this unforgettable time. 🙏💖
