The short version is you will be missing out on an amazing dining experience if you don't come here. I thought the food would be mediocre because it was part of The Butterfly Valley. Turns out the restaurant has been here since 1948, way before the other part opened. I didn't know that when I sat down and just ordered egg plant salad and toasted pita. It was absolutely delicious. I then found out that the great-grandfather of the current owner started the restaurant. They are very well known for their spaghetti bolognese and moussaka. Well, I'm in Greece so of course I got the moussaka. It is the best I have ever had and I have Greek friends at home. The owner and I started speaking and he told me his 89-year-old mother started working here when his grandmother was pregnant with him. She is 89 years old and still makes the meat for the bolognese and moussaka. I forgot to mention the prices are very reasonable. The moussaka was 10 euro and the eggplant with the pita was seven euro. If you love it as much as I did, please...
Read moreIf you are expecting a tourist rip off for a few pieces of salad and a few spaghetti, this is NOT the case! The staff is more than friendly and the service is really good. This is a really family run restaurant where the Grandma (age 90+) is still a vital part of the team and helps in the kitchen with the cooking. That's right. Grandma's food!!!!! We ordered a moussaka, a saganaki and a "spaghetti Butterfly". As a Greek myself i can tell you, it felt like mama's food from the first bite. i would definitely recommend this restaurant AND the butterfly valley. Even if you visit outside of the butterfly season the track is not hard to tread, it costs 3€ per person and the price is really worth it. Even though we were there in May, we were able to see a few butterflies and the local crab, which (according to the info board) is unique in...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing place, super friendly helpful staff after we rode 15 miles there and 15 back. The food is the best I've had all holiday. Thoroughly recommend a visit, so pretty and there's plenty of shaded areas to sit. We didn't see loads of different species of butterflies since it's the start of the season for them, the staff did tell us this however before we paid 3 euros entry but it's still worth a nosey, it's very tranquil. The cafe made it for me though, all the staff are superb. Again, the food is amazing, club sandwiches super tasty and plenty. Which was good because the 15 mile return ride...
