We were fortunate to find this place open mid-afternoon on a Thursday in January. We had stopped by multiple other places that Google said were open to find that to not be the case. We were the only customers, and the entire town seemed deserted but for lots of cats and one nice dog.
We ordered a Greek salad, Greek calamari, and “large local fish” along with a sparkling water. The proprietor also brought bread and a homemade tzatziki. She did indicate that the tzatziki was on the house, but did not mention the bread which was brought alongside it. Note: we were charged 2€ for the bread, and we had not ordered it; so, while it was good, that was not an ideal way to handle it.
The salad and calamari (served with potatoes) were both excellent, and the portions were substantial. The fish (also served with potatoes) was good and prepared well - albeit maybe a bit uninspiring.
The total bill was reasonable, and we asked to have the leftover potatoes and uneaten homemade bread wrapped up. In our to-go bag, the proprietor sent us away with a small jar of what we believe was homemade kumquat preserves; this turned out to be truly excellent on yogurt for breakfast or on a piece of cheese for lunch.
Good food, good value,...
Read moreIf you're ever in the mood for being hustled into a restaurant like you're some sort of prized catch, then by all means, go here. From the very moment you approach, they barely let you get a word in before aggressively pushing you to sit down. The food? It was passable, but the experience? Abysmal.
Here's the real kicker: what you see on the menu is apparently just a suggestion, because when the bill arrived, the prices had magically inflated. Oh, and that complimentary bread they oh-so-generously brought to the table without us asking? Of course, it found its way onto the bill too. When I pointed this out, they didn’t even bother with an apology. Instead, they started rummaging through the menu, pretending they were unfamiliar with their own prices. How charming.
Long story short, I don't appreciate being swindled. Places like this really put a damper on what could have been a lovely experience in Greece. Do yourself a favour: avoid this place like the plague. There are far better, more honest...
Read moreSpontaneous experience, we were at another local restaurant which had a big problem and couldn't serve food for 2 hours, so we had to leave, and this restaurant, at 22h, welcomed us with open arms. Within 5 minutes, we ordered, and immediately received the first starter and drinks. The Tzatziki was nice, the yellow pita bread was the favorite of the week. We ordered the homemade Domades, which I personally loved, and took the rest home as the portion is big. For mains we had Partisio (?) and Pork Souvlaki. We enjoyed it, although the portions were bigger than we expected. After asking for the bill, the waiter, who is the owner, brought us a homemade chocolate cake which we somehow managed to finish, because it was so delicious and light. We also met the other owner, the husband. The husband cooks, and the wife does the pastry and is the waiter. We enjoyed everything about this restaurant,...
