Taverna Yiarenis — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

This was a recommendation to us and I was delighted that we took it up.

This was a trip in the car for us, you will need either a taxi or your own transportation to get here but it is well worth the effort to do so.

This was the best food that we had while we were away.

Everything was another level of freshness and taste. All the dishes were perfectly executed and seasoned and spiced so well.

A special shout out goes to the slow cooked chicken you can see a picture of the traditional oven they use and this just adds to it. Pictured is local style with pasta, but you could choose a different side like fries or I think rice.

Before I start on how great the food is (and believe me, it is!), I must mention how unbelievably great service is. We’ve been here twice during the same trip to Rhodes. The 1st time, we didn’t expect the portion to be that huge (and it was!), so we had to ask the most of it to pack to go. They gave us a clay pot with Moussaka and said they can’t give it otherwise, because it will ruin the presentation. I can’t express more how nice and thoughtful it was!)

The 2nd time, we just couldn’t leave Greece without going to Yiarenis again. So we did) Their white cheese balls with tomato marmalade is just something else. Everything else was just wonderful, too. Moussaka, lamb with chickpeas, dolmadakia - just yammy. I also recommend the Yiarenis salad)

This restaurant was a recommendation from our Greek host. In the beginning we doubted to drive 50 mins to get there but it was so worthy! Food was amazing and the service even better. We felt like home eating Greek home-cooking in a relax environment with very friendly waiters. We shared different dishes to try a bit of everything and nothing disappointed us, every bite was transporting you to that Greek taste. At the end, dessert was on the house and it was delicious!
