Located just above the beautiful Platys Gialos, Nikoulias is what you can call an ideal location to visit during your stay in Serifos BUT… Even though the setting of the restaurant and the views are ideal, the service was unacceptable.
We were as always polite. The staff (or was it the management?) wasn’t. Unfriendly, rude and disrespectful, it had nothing to do with the reviews we read on TripAdvisor and Google.
Food was OK, a bit overpriced compared to other places in the island, but it wasn’t bad.
So I suppose that the overall experience would have been good if it wasn’t of the service.
Please note that among others we asked very politely at the end of the lunch if somebody could take away the dishes (they were left on the table after we finished our lunch and nobody bothered to get them) and we asked the staff if we could order some coffee. The answer was NO. A simple word: NO, without an explanation, a smile or an excuse. The exact same answer was given to the nearby tables. I guess that the understaff was the reason for the reply but this should not be the visitor’s problem.

Read moreLocal taverna close to Platis Gialis beach and is highly recommended across the island for its fresh fish. Unfortunately for us, their fisherman was sick on the day we went for lunch, but we still had a delicious meal of local dishes. The owner was very honest in stating that there was no fresh fish but some dozen options and outlined all the dishes that could be made fresh. Given its reputation on the island it would be worth a visit. Service is friendly and dishes are reasonably priced. With two small beaches nearby it’s...
Read moreGreat tavern with fantastic view, though a bit out of the way so can be a challenge to find. We had delicious salad, beets and boiled wild greens for starters, crispy and airy fennel fritters, rustic but delicious fava, prawn pasta and grilled octopus. The marinated anchovies with a sip of ouzo (and that view) encapsulate the beauty of the Greek islands for me. The only disappointing dish were the mussels which were overcooked and without a broth. Everything else was delicious and I would certainly...
