Glyka nera Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Sfakia

This place is unique, literally on a rock in the sea, facing the beach, which you can reach via a short footbridge (if you come by boat you moor at the same rock and need to pass through the tavern in order to land).Very simple, essentially a covered terrace open on three sides and surrounded by water. Amazing! No more than 20 seats, you eat with the sound of the sea in your ears and the smell of the thyme in flower on the mountain nearby. Simple, but tasty kitchen. Little shack on the beach offering limited but delicious simple dishes. The pork souvlaki was especially tasty! Perfect little spot for the perfect little beach nearby. They also own the sun loungers and umbrellas along the beach which cost 6 EUR to use. The card machine is a bit iffy so have some cash on hand...

The isolated location of this tavern would allow it to be moderate and expensive. It isn’t.

We had pork steak and lavraki which were nicely cooked - I always tell the service no matter the place not to overcook them - the Greek salad despite being small was tasty.
