Positives: wonderful food, mostly very friendly and professional staff, good prices.
Negatives: the attitude we got over some spilled food as we were leaving, from one of the staff. So rude. Never experienced anything like it. We were shouted at from across the restaurant.
For context: I accidentally spilled some rice on the floor - the tenderloin a la creme is served with rice - and at the time explained it to our waiter and offered to clean it up. He was understanding and told us not to worry about it. As we were leaving the guy (perhaps the owner?) went over to our table, saw the rice and called us back where he proceeded to shout at us in Greek. We kept trying to explain it was an accident and eventually our waiter said we should just leave. I can only presume that the owner thought we had been trying to feed our dog (who was quietly sleeping under the table). Had this been true his anger would have been understandable, but it was completely false and he didn’t even allow us the benefit of the doubt. And even if it was true it’s completely unprofessional to shout at your customers! Have a quiet word if necessary. And speak to your own staff first to see if there is a genuine reason. I’m sure there are some bad customers in this world, but by assuming everyone is bad you will put off the good ones and any good feeling they might have.
I’ve still given it 3 stars as it seems unfair to the other staff - who were excellent- and the food which was delicious. But we’re certainly never...
Read moreFood was decent, but the owner gave a very poor impression by continuously shooing away all cats and dogs in the area. At one point he got on the street to chase a black dog that was just passing by, but the worst was when he got to the next property to try to use a sling shot against some mom cat and kittens. This left a really bad taste in my mouth after a somewhat decent lavraki.
A multicoloured cat came next to me (we were at the far corner of the garden). I fed it a little fish but I heard the owner yell at me from the other side of the garden, so I discontinued that. The cat stayed and the owner came after a while and started yelling at it, so the cat ran away.
It came back a few more times thought, and each time the owner came after a while and shooed it away. The last times a few small cute kittens came, so the cat was also a mother.
The cat with the kittens was coming from a nearby yard, it seemed, and the tavern owner went there a few times seemingly to check if the cat was there.
When we were leaving I was kind of shocked to see him again next to the fence of that yard, holding a sling shot and peeking inside. I can't be sure what he did with that sling shot, and it wasn't my business to interfere, but I may question what kind of grown up person uses children's sling shots against kittens.
Again, the food was nice, but the inhumanity of the mamager/onwer left a really bad aftertaste in my mouth. I'm leaving one extra star...
Read moreWe used to go here once every season for a nice meal and traditional and friendly atmosphere. After this year, we’re not coming back.
The waiter, which was a young man was friendly but you could tell he wasn’t enjoying his time there. The old man supervisor/owner stared angrily at us throughout our meal and especially after we reviewed the bill.
We got overcharged on the bill and the waiter couldn’t point to all of the things we ordered on the receipt. The items were marked as generic and not what we ordered. We didn’t care that much about it to make a fuss, it’s not unusual in Greece, but enough to leave the warning here for others.
The food was the lowest quality we had in Sithonia. Fries were soaked with oil and frozen variety, definitely not fresh as advertised, the fried zucchini were also soaked. The octopus had an odd taste, we didn’t risk finishing it. Everything else was average. The house wine was still decent.
I don’t know what changed in the last year but it was for the worse. It no longer matches the star...
