Let me preface this by saying I like food and wine a lot (I've worked in the industry) and love trying new things and places. I went to Aeroinon on a Saturday afternoon for a big late lunch...and went there again for lunch the very next day!
All the ingredients are fresh, local and homemade; this is a farm-to-table experience and it's a true reflection of this family's passion for hospitality...you are truly eating in their kitchen as their guest!
This place is a MUST if you are in or near Sitia. Try the traditional snails (χοχλιούς), the shrimp pasta, shrimp saganaki, wild mushroom risotto, homemade pies...really everything you get (and I tried the entire menu) will be amazing!
Order some local raki to start your meal and you'll be rewarded with some appetizers that are simply spectacular... In writing this I'm reminded of the first bite I took which left myself and my entire group speechless.
Like with all great things, it's the people that make them special. Manolis and his wife are very proud (rightfully so) and very caring about the quality of food they serve their customers!
I truly cannot recommend this place enough. Call them now and tell them...
Read moreReally good find. We are staying on the mountain nearby and drive through the town daily so thought we'd check out Aéroinon. Wasn't disappointed at all. We got there about 520pm and there was just a couple of locals sitting around and took a nice table in the shade under a tree.
We ordered 4 starters, an Aéroinon salad, and 4 mains from the menu, however, we were advised we were ordering too much food so we got 3 starters, a salad, and a mixed grill.
The food was fantastic, and there was more than enough food for four people. You get a little treat at the end also courtesy of the taverna which is nice.
With 2 rounds of drinks the price was only 75 Euros which is good value for money.
Worth checking out if you're in nearby Sitia.
Note the parking is tight in the the streets so we parked near the pharmacy on the main road...
Read moreThe restaurant is on a lovely village square, but it’s not very quiet — there’s a kids’ playground right next door, so it can get noisy during dinner. Service was a bit slow and disorganized, and the food was average.
We were disappointed that many of the local daily cooked dishes were crossed out on the menu, and even after choosing from what was left, one of our meals wasn’t available. Since we came specifically for those dishes, it felt misleading.
On the positive side, our waitress noticed we were frustrated and did her best to suggest alternatives and make our experience better. Her friendliness and effort are the main reasons I’m giving 3 stars; otherwise, it would...
