Uphill at the small village square, the first thing you see is a large terrace, under the fat shade of a big tree, overlooking the sea. Nestled in this charming spot is this place, but you won't go for the view alone (although it's a bonus, the view). You'll go for the exceptional cooking, with local ingredients, with vegetables and cheeses either theirs or from neighboring farms, for a stewed poem with a tender rabbit and caramelized onions (don't skip their "kouneli stifado"), for their wonderful eggplant salad (with local, "tsakonikes" of course, eggplants, and walnuts), for their crispy mommy-like potato fries, for their juicy and delicious seftalia-meatballs, for the traditional "tyropitari" cheese pie with airy thin dough filled with creamy anthotyro cheese (masterfully fried). Everything we had was truly exceptional, wonderful Greek cuisine, in proper Greek portions, all served on lovely terracotta plates. The food, the service and the view all range from good to great. But the overselling might make you feel like a complete idiot. First time in my life I had to pay over 50€ for a portion of plain kid (katsikaki). Once you fail to ask exactly how large the per-kg-charged portion is, you are trapped. Ours was a kilo and a half, clearly far too much for a family with young children like ours. It came without a warning and the inflated bill ruined our overall experience.
Despite staying a stone's throw from Konatsi, but won't be visiting again. Nor can we recommend a place which cannot be trusted to communicate vital information to...
Read moreThis restaurant is a MUST to enjoy. The food is outstanding as is the service from this lovely family. We started every dinner (we went 3 nights in a row) with the Konatsi salad, which was truly awesome and super healthy. We loved the Chortopita traditional pie, the tzatziki is fresh and great, the lamb chops were prepared to perfection. The homemade yogurt with honey is incredible. Try the homemade apple geranium liqueur after your meal, it’s fabulous. Oh and we tried the grape homemade spoon sweets…yum.
Important: Do not follow Google Maps or Waze. Follow the signs near the Shell gas station. If you follow electronic maps you will end up on the wrong road and you will not reach the restaurant. Use the signs and it’s easy! See photos and...
