I went on the end of April for my partner’s birthday dinner, the place was not as busy as it was off season, but Maria, Akis and Dimitris has made the entire birthday dining experience really special. I have been keeping in contact with Maria via social media in organising personal requests, such as a birthday cake with a fee and reservation, which she has done accordingly.
We arrived at the restaurant by car, the architecture of the place is very beautiful and well thought, we were given the option to sit outside or inside, so we sat outside for the surreal view of the shore and the town nearby the vicinity for the sunset, with a pot of flowers personal for us. The location is ideal to reach by car and navigation is required.
As the restaurant was not fully occupied at the time, we were met with efficient service from start to finish: greetings, taking orders, serving drinks, delivery of food. Dimitiris was our server for the night, he is very friendly and approachable, informative of the food and factual regarding greek culture and Corfu itself.
For starters, we had the Archontiko salad and steamed mussels, and for the mains, we had Octopus and Kokkinisto. All dishes were beautifully presented, flavourful and good value for potion ratio, both the beef and octopus were very tender.
Dimitiris bought out a lemon tart and sang happy birthday with candles in surprise, it tasted sweet and delicate, very yummy :)
Very pleasant experience and the team at Archontiko ran their service at the highest standard efficiently, and really take care of their guests. Definitely will be coming back in the future. Thank you so much...
Read moreExcellent food! Astonishing view with the venue being located at the top of a hill and the dining area built circumferentially to the building. The space between the tables is huge and you can enjoy your stay there with your company without annoying or being annoyed by anyone. The large stone-constructed building keeps the place rather cool even when the temperatures are high.
Akis, the owner, is the kindest person and most pleasant person that you can imagine. He is always on the watch taking care of everything, he always treats you with shots and drinks and he will definitely make sure that your stay there will be an experience. The staff is very kind and calm, always working in slow moves, a thing that provides the visitor with a totally relaxing experience.
On to the dishes now. Both the Carbonara and the Archontiko spaghetti were superb, the Eskalop sauce was unbelievable and the salads were great. We also ordered brownies and cheesecake for dessert and that cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever tasted!
All in all a truly exceptional experience and it’s a pity that I ate there on the last day of my staying in Corfu. I will...
Read moreThe place is beautiful with breathtaking views on one side. The side we were seated on was also nice, but stiflingly hot. When we asked to be seated on the other side (the place was quite empty and it was only 18:30) we were told all the other tables were reserved (we had also made a reservation). The staff (apart from the head waiter) were very friendly. The food was not worth the price - the sofrito was dry and chewy, and the kokkinisto was mediocre. The bass and the carbonara were good. At the end of the meal I pointed out our dissatisfaction to the owner and was told that the other tables had been reserved a week in advance (they were still empty when we were done) - we were offered fruit and limoncello which we refused as we wanted to get out and stop sweating profusely where we were. I understand there are constraints, but no attempt was made at a solution and we suffered in the heat (and smoke from attempts to deter bugs), shouldn't happen at a restaurant that charges these prices. Nice views, the meal, heat and lack of attempt to fix the situation put a...
