This restaurant was recommended to me by a local for the fantastic food and location ( particularly at sunset) I can attest to both being brilliant! However it’s such a shame that the service is so disappointing. After a lacklustre first visit we decided to visit again. We arrived and we’re shown to our table and the literally abandoned for 30 mins. No one offered us a drink, or came to take our order. Eventually I got up to request that we were at least able to order a glass of wine whilst we waited. The staff acknowledged their error but were not exactly forthcoming with an apology, but someone did eventually take our order. The food was as delicious as the first time ( the rooster was fantastic!) but no one checked on us to see if we were happy with our meal, offer us additional drinks or ask us if we wanted our check. Ultimately this restaurant is grossly understaffed for how popular it is! The staff could also afford a little bit more warmth and friendliness if they are going to keep visitors waiting for as...
Read moreEDIT: while I stand by my original review from two years ago, I have been back 5 times since. The food is always great although I felt it’s been slightly more interesting and better thought through in the past. The views are wonderful but the service is painful. I had thought it a one off bad day last year but it was the same again this year. It took 50 mins from sitting down to getting a drink. The salad and dips arrived but without any bread to eat them with. I appreciate it’s a busy seating time with everyone arriving before us but it’s not difficult to get everyone some drinks while they look through the menu.
Wow! What a gem. Was sceptical about whether the long drive would be worth it but god was I wrong. Great dishes, created with thought and creativity, refreshingly different from the standard taverna dishes you find everywhere else. The lentil salad was outstanding- the use of lemon zest, inspired. The smoked aubergine salad was so full of flavour and just a joy. My only regret is we...
Read moreWent for late lunch without a reservation and were able to be sited without problems, the restaurant was not busy. Breathtaking views but in the middle of the summer afternoon with the sun coming in the veranta, it would be very helpful to have at least some overhead or outdoor fans to make the heat bearable and send the flies away. The menu was interesting and we tasted a few dishes but were quickly put off by the large hair that was found in the capary dip. The fried liver dish with plenty of rosemary was very tasty. Overall not sure it was worth the drive from Posidonia; Syros has plenty of other restaurants with fantastic views and...
