Stopped at Pithari Restaurant in the village of Kalamaki, Achaia to have lunch with friends. A very nice place and the food was excellent along with the service. Would definitely consider going there again. Well, I went there for lunch again and to my dismay I was disappointed! First, they forgot to bring our salad until we practically finished and only when we asked about the salad. Then when we asked for the bill, the server offered us dessert which my husband said OK and I said I didn't want any. After waiting for over 15 minutes, no dessert came so we asked for the bill; after 10+ minutes we asked for the bill again and then someone showed up with ice cream. Great taverna! We’ve been in Greece for 5 weeks and the food here is the best we’ve eaten hands down. Not only is the food amazing but the tavern has kept the true essence of Greece. We had the mixed grill, Greek salad and cheese balls. The Greek salad had great seasoning and ample olive oil, something that has been missing from other restaurants. The meat on the mixed grill was very tender and well seasoned. The staff were friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. We retuned again because we had such a good experience. It's one of the best restaurants in this region. We were there with 17 people and it all worked like a dream. The service was fast, the food was delicious and the price is more than OK for the size of the portions. The staff speaks enough English to order and pay even without knowing any Greek. I will dine there definitely at my next visit. You also have to say, that we were there at the End of November were a lot of restaurants didn't offer the full range of meals in that holiday region.
