Kafene is the first place I've been to in Eressos, and it's definitely one of my favorites ever! First of all, sitting under a centuries old tree where people of upper and lower village ( locals and expats from all over the world) gather for long lunches, brunches, drinks and dinners is just wonderful! I love how atmospheric it is and the vivacity it brings to the square. Food and service: The food, honestly, is crazy good! The best! Whatever you try off the menu is perfect. I tried a few things, mostly meat and fish, and couldn't be happier. Meat is tender, fish incredibly fresh, the taste and the quality - top notch! (On the weekends, they have special menus. Ask for infos! )The girls in the kitchen are absolute stars, and the servers are friendly and super fast. The prices are very affordable because the owner, Iannis, decided not to raise them so everyone could come and spend time at Kafene. I love this place, and it's one of the reasons I decided to stay in Eresos. It's like being part of something wonderful while having the best...

Amazing place! Hidden under a big tree at the market place of Eressos village, we found many years ago restaurant Kafene. Ever since we keep coming back because of the many advantages that makes this place so attractive such as the great home made dishes - traditional but also some a-typical Greek - the places in the shadow of the big tree from where you can observe the daily activity in the village, the hospitality of the family that runs the business, the conversations with Yannis, who we consider as a friend after all this time. A very pleasant place in the old village square, under the century-old plane tree. There are also daily dishes other than the standard ones. We preferred the artichoke and oven plate that came out that day. It was hot and tasty but not a great dish. The waiters were very fast, cheerful and helpful. We paid 26 Euros for 2 main courses, 1 artichoke, a glass of wine, soda, a large bottle of water, bread and a latte coffee. This is a very...
