I recently had the pleasure of dining at what is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary places I’ve ever visited. Nestled in a stunning, remote location, this restaurant is a true testament to tradition and craftsmanship. The entire place was built by hand years ago, and the beauty of its traditional design is simply breathtaking.

The restaurant is run by two incredibly warm and hospitable people who make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The kindness they exude is indescribable, and it’s clear that every dish is prepared with immense love and care. The food is outstanding—everything is fresh and bursting with flavor. Even if you’re full, don’t miss out on trying the watermelon and grapes, which come straight from their own garden. The freshness and quality are beyond compare.

Where should I even start, with so much good to say.

The view? The staff? The amazing food? The atmosphere?

This is an absolute gem... Located on a track towards a waterfall, you can access this resturant either by walking a beautiful hike though a forrest, following a stream until you get to a steep staircase, that will take you here.

You can also drive (or walk) a half pave road through the mountain hill to get there.

I did both, and they both have a charm.

Then, you get there. The Old papa is standing over the fire, cooking food over wood. I mean, daaaayum.. The smell alone... Absolutely amazing.

A family run business. The son - ever smiling and in good mood, will take care of you.

You are served local Greek food, cooked to perfection.. The bones comming completely clean out from the meat..

You will enjoy the smell, flavor and hospitality in the most stunning environment.

I can honestly say, they the only bad thing I can think of, is that I had to leave, and couldn't just stay the entire day.

But alas - I had to take the kid to the hair saloon.

Traditional tavern in a unique location One of my favorite places to visit in Samos, Archontissa offers a unique location set above the Potami waterfalls. It's a family run traditional tavern that offers traditional oven cooked meals and they are all delicious. I have now been a couple of times and everything we have ordered has tasted great! The staff are friendly, the price is good, the meals are large portions and the location is breathtaking!!!! Today we explored the waterfalls below the tavern and walked up the mountain to reach what I would describe the tavern is like a tree house that is full of history. I have never experienced a tavern that is so unique. The views and the location are absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed the archontissa salad, taziki, fried zucchini balls, oven cooked goat and pork and we always order the local white wine. If you are looking for something different to do in Samos then this is your location, just make sure you also take your swimmers to explore the Potami waterfalls before you treat yourself...
