To Limani Psarotaverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Xylokastro and Evrostina

Stay away ! We stopped on our way to Athens for a taste of fresh calamari , menu price 18 euro. There was also frozen kalamari available, but I wanted the fresh. Nothing else. He owner asked ' is that all? Water ?' . Yes water is fine I said. We sat down with the family.

Then came a small plate of mix of fresh and frozen kalamari ( I can tell the difference thank you), a bottle of water, and a basket of sour bread. I took a bite of a slice of hard bread and left the rest. The rest of us didn't touch it. The fresh calamari pieces in the mix were really fresh, well fried, and tasty. The frozen pieces were hard as rubber gloves to chew and swallow.

When I asked for the bill, I saw that there was a surcharge of 6 euros. I asked what it was.. he owner said :' for the bread'. Remember: I had not asked for the bread. Neither was it listed on the menu as an extra item.

I paid the bill and left.

To people Stay away from this place. To owner: shame on you. You should rather close that place and start selling used cars. That is more...

Had to edit my review as we revisited and the prices have exceeded any logical increment, they are just insane! I have examples to give of better, fresher and oh-so-much bigger portions of standard Greek tavern cuisine for cheaper on freaking Greek Islands! Nothing has changed to the food or the restaurant itself that would excuse those prices. 10€ for half of a shallow plate of Greek salad? Just stay away. The service was slowish BUT the food was excellent. Note that this is a restaurant that hardcore fish and shellfish lovers will appreciate. Grilled octopus was sun dried (traditional style; tough to eat but a whole lot tastier). Grilled scallops were excellent and fresh. Grilled prawns were fresh and well cooked not to mention large.
