Εστιατόριο «Ο Βοϊδομάτης» — Restaurant in Pogoni Municipality

Very rude staff. The fact that they enforce bottled water on each table (especially to tourists and foreigners) is particularly disturbing. The water in that part of Greece is considered one of the cleanest and purest. Next to the tavern there is one of the cleanest springs - the one of Voidomatis. However the owners have chosen to forget everything about greek hospitality and make extra profit by selling plastic Vikos water bottles. I have politely asked for a jar of water - which is typical in Greece - and they have responded with two glasses with warm water. When I complained the owner - the 3rd generation of ownership in this industrial style tavern - he walked away. I guess they make quite a lot of money so they don't care about one disatisfied customer. Then I complained to the waiters about this behavior. Their response was that there is rust (!!!) in the water and that's why they give bottled water. They said that they try to protect us. First this is a lie cause our hotel owner and the next tavern we went (in close distance), everyone told us that the water is perfectly drinkable. Secondly, if indeed there is rust in the water, then why at the first place they offered us these two glasses of warm water? Did they want to put our...

We came in as we read the reviews about the fresh grilled trout - and we were not disappointed! At first the taverna looked empty, but that was only because everyone was sitting at the river :) Besides the amazing, tasty fish we ordered baked feta and the kolokytho keftedes (zucchini patties) and both were absolutely delicious. The patties were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and smelled wonderfully of dill. Baked feta was as tasty as anywhere else we've had this dish. Service was exquisitely nice - waitress helped us with our order to sort out the sides. We received our food very quickly although there were other tables.

🇩🇪 Deutsch In dieser Gegend war es das einzige Restaurant, das uns angesprochen hat – also steuerten wir es an. Die Speisekarte bekamen wir rasch, doch leider mussten wir recht lange warten, bis wir bestellen durften. Nach der Bestellung dauerte es nochmals ca. 15 Minuten, bis das Essen kam – das war aber völlig in Ordnung.

Der Fisch war top, das Fleisch ebenfalls. Preis-Leistung passt – etwas teurer als anderswo, was aber wohl am Tourismus liegt.

Unser Zwischenstopp auf der Balkanreise am 06.07.2025 hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Wir kommen gerne wieder vorbei und empfehlen das Restaurant weiter.

🇬🇧 English This was the only restaurant in the area that really appealed to us – so we decided to give it a try. We received the menu quickly, but unfortunately had to wait quite a while before we could place our order. After ordering, it took about 15 more minutes for the food to arrive – but that was perfectly fine.

The fish was excellent, and the meat just as good. Price-performance ratio was okay – a bit more expensive than elsewhere, probably due to the tourist location.

Our stopover during our Balkan trip on July 6, 2025, was definitely worth it. We’d be happy to come again – and we’ll gladly recommend the restaurant.
