Disappointed. The restaurant came recommended by our Airbnb host as being 'quality food at reasonable prices' so my partner and I decided to book for dinner one evening.
We were taken to our table and we had a lovely view of the hills ahead and of the soon to be beautiful sunset - I could not fault the setting at all. It was also Greek night so it was fun hearing live greek music while we ate and a nice buzz to the venue with basically every table filled.
First disappointment was when we were politely asked if we would like water (before even opening our menus) so we ordered a sparkling water. Upon looking through the drinks (as we fancied some wine), we couldn't help be alarmed by the fact that it was €6.50 for 750ml for the sparkling water we just ordered! Half a litre of the house rose (which we also ordered) was just €5.
For food, we shared a starter of grilled octopus, and for mains we shared the lamb kleftkiko and the stuffed squid. The octopus was sadly overcooked and therefore tough as well as severely under seasoned and the only overriding flavour was the "grilled" notes, and the fava bean puree it came with was also sadly lacking any seasoning or flavour. The only saving grace was that it looked pretty.
By this point we also noticed how frantic the service felt, with waiters seemingly stressed and rushed off their feet. We decided to order some pita bread to go with our mains and this never arrived.
Our mains came and the stuffed squid (calamari) was actually very tasty (recommend!) although sadly, again, overcooked. The lamb was a very generous portion but let down by lack of seasoning and also going slightly dry.
Maybe it was just an off day considering the high ratings I'd seen online but overall we left feeling disappointed and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Alia's restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that set the perfect tone for a memorable meal.
The first thing that caught my attention was the impeccable service. The staff at Alia's restaurant were not only friendly and attentive but also incredibly efficient. I was impressed by how quickly my order was taken and how promptly the dishes were served. Their commitment to providing a seamless dining experience truly stood out.
Now let's talk about the food. The pasta dish I had was absolutely delightful. The pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente and bursting with flavor. The sauce was rich, creamy, and had just the right balance of spices. Every bite was a mouthwatering delight that left me craving for more.
Equally impressive was the calamari dish. The calamari was expertly prepared, tender, and had a satisfying crunch. It was accompanied by a zesty dipping sauce that complemented the flavors perfectly. I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, which elevated the dish to a whole new level.
Overall, Alia's restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. From the cozy ambiance to the lightning-fast and attentive service, and of course, the delicious pasta and calamari, it was an experience that left a lasting impression. If you're looking for a place with a good vibe, exceptional service, and delectable dishes, I wholeheartedly recommend Alia's restaurant. You won't be...
Read moreWe dined here for lunch and the food was so, so good. It was very quiet, we were the only ones there to start, but I don't think it had long opened. We had feta saganaki & zucchini balls to start and moussaka (x2) with a portion of french fries on the side (as the moussaka comes on its own) and lamb chops for main. All the food was just delicious, in particular the zucchini balls. With a bottle of still water and a bottle of rosé, we paid around €30pp.
Only marked it 4/5 for atmosphere due to the time of day, it was very quiet but we tried to order the kleftiko & were unable to as they had Greek night the night before & had sold out so it was not yet ready for lunch. The waiter told us they had been very busy so later in the day/evening might have more atmosphere, but it was a lovely little spot nonetheless.
We discovered after there is ample parking to the back of the restaurant, but we were able to park on the road out the front.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in or...
