During our return from a beautiful morning at the beach in Agia Efimia, we decided to continue our journey in search of a place to enjoy an authentic lunch. After a bit of exploration, we stumbled upon Dimitroula’s Place, and it turned out to be an absolute gem.
The restaurant itself exudes a charming and welcoming atmosphere. The décor is rustic yet tasteful, capturing the essence of traditional Greek hospitality. We were greeted warmly by the staff, who promptly seated us and provided menus. The service throughout our visit was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, with a genuine desire to ensure that we had an enjoyable dining experience.
The menu offered a delightful array of Greek dishes, each promising a taste of local flavors. We decided to try the meatballs and the riganada, two dishes that came highly recommended. The meatballs were incredibly flavorful, with a perfect blend of spices and herbs that made each bite a delight. They were served with a rich tomato sauce that complemented the meat perfectly. The riganada, a traditional Greek dish made with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta cheese, was fresh and invigorating, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with oregano.
What stood out the most was the quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and locally sourced, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for the high quality of the food.
We left Dimitroula’s Place feeling satisfied and eager to return. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines exceptional service, outstanding cuisine, and a warm, inviting atmosphere so seamlessly. I highly recommend stopping by Dimitroula’s Place for a memorable meal. We will certainly be coming back on our next visit...
Read moreStepping into Dimitrula’s Traditional Greek Tavern is like walking into a story — one written by the hands of Makis and his family for over 100 years, seasoned with love, laughter, and generations of shared meals. This isn’t just a tavern; it’s a living tribute to the soul of Greek hospitality, where tradition is more than a word — it’s a way of life.
From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed not as a customer, but as a friend of the family. The warmth of the staff, many of whom are lifelong friends of Makis or part of his extended family, fills the space like the aroma of slow-cooked lamb and fresh oregano.
Every dish tells a story — passed down through generations, lovingly preserved, and proudly served. Whether it’s the melt-in-your-mouth moussaka, the perfectly grill,, you taste not only incredible flavors, but the memory of countless family gatherings, celebrations, and amazing meals.
Makis himself is often there, smiling with the kind of pride only someone carrying on a century-old tradition can. He might tell you about his grandmother Dimitrula, the heart behind the name, or about the old recipes that haven’t changed since her time. And when he does, you feel it — that deep sense of heritage, rooted in love, carried forward with care.
Dimitrula’s is not just a place to eat. It’s a place to connect, to remember what matters, and to experience the kind of timeless, authentic Greece that can’t be faked or recreated. It’s where food, family, and friendship come together — and where every guest becomes part of the story.
Unmissable. Unforgettable. 100 years young, and still...
Read moreThe best traditional Greek food you can get in Kefalonia. In this family owned restaurant, all the food is homemade and fresh. The terrace with large beautiful olive threes, the family working in the kitchen and the locals enjoying some food and raki make you feel right at home. The family is welcoming and very kind! You can enjoy your dinner with a beautiful view of the sunset on the mountains. This was the only restaurant where I felt like I had the real Kefalonian dinner experience. I fell in love with the tzatziki, Dolmadez and Riganada as entrances and the beef stifado as main course. I would recommend this lovely place to to anyone who stays nearby or...
