Mega Gialos Taverna — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

Visited the restaurant for lunch in August 2018. This is a traditional family owned taverna with the mother cooking the food, the daughter bringing the service and the father doing the bookkeeping in a charmingly relaxed manner, at a table in the restaurant.

Here you can enjoy an overwhelming view at high altitude, towards the ocean Skopalos, while you have a couple of authentic greek delicacies cooked with local family recipes, most likely passed on through generations.

A must-go if you find yourself in this corner of the island.

Food: 3 Scenery...

We visited Megas Gialos for the first time and were pleasantly surprised.

It’s a true family taverna that delivers exactly what it promises: honest, traditional Greek food cooked with care. Don’t expect fine dining, but do expect authentic flavors and generous portions. The lamb chops we tried were simply divine, some of the best we’ve ever had.

The only downside was a bit of waiting time, but it was absolutely worth it.

Everything was absolutely amazing : food , view at superlative . The staff was fruendly , they helped us to find out so many things about the island . We ordered the 2 persons aperitiv - we can’t breath after eating it , main course lamb chops and lamb made in a local way - absolutely amazing . The orange pie with ice cream was stouning . I think i took 2 kg at least but it worth it . We’ll come back for shure before we leave...
