Mixed Experience

During my recent lunch experience with my family at Watermill Tavern in Theologos, Thassos, we had a mixed experience that was somewhat overshadowed by the presence of numerous wasps. While the tavern had its positives, the issue with the insects was a significant drawback.

Let's start with the positives. The location of Watermill Tavern was charming, nestled in a picturesque setting. The outdoor seating area provided a relaxing atmosphere and a pleasant view of the surroundings. The rustic ambiance added a touch of authenticity to the dining experience.

In terms of the food, we found the dishes to be reasonably good. The menu offered a decent variety of traditional Greek dishes, and the flavors were generally satisfying.

However, we cannot overlook the problem with the wasps. The presence of these insects was a significant inconvenience and detracted from our overall enjoyment. We had to constantly be on guard, making it difficult to relax and fully savor our meal. It would have been appreciated if the tavern had taken proactive measures to address the issue, such as installing wasp traps or providing insect...

We chose this place as it had the highest rating in Theologos, but we left somewhat disappointed.

Our table was cleaned and served by a 10yo child (alcoholic beverages included), with the help of an older girl (barely a teenager) and a 'main' waitress. We were asked to change our table even though the one we sat at wasn't visibly reserved. We had to wait 15 minutes to pay. We had to use our own napkins as there weren't any on our table. The overall experience felt unprofessional and unsatisfying. Having children work and serve alcoholic beverages is highly questionable. We ended up paying 44 euro for 2 portions, 1 salad, 1 tzatziki and 2 beers (no free dessert was served).

my favorite place to visit whenever i go to thassos. i go every year with my family in august. the tavern is in the nature, with brooks with cool water, trees and flowers everywhere. the family owning it are 5 of the best people i’ve ever known and they manage the place with warmth and protection. the food is exceptional made by them with love and care and is super delicious. try any plate, the more the merrier! VISIT THEM DONT GIVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT. IT IS SO WORTH YOUR TIME. and people, stop being so negative, they deserve all the praise...
