To start with we were two people. Like the days we had to preorder for a table. So… we were two people: A greek and a german. We live in the village and each day we would come back from a long day finding a parking would be REALLY difficult due to the tavern. So be aware that there is a shortage of parking spaces. We faced racism: I am joking with my partner sometimes and we try to speak with a greek accent. It sounds funny. And so I asked them to order a “Radler” (a german invention and word). They ordered it with no accent. Namely german. The comment of the waiter in greek to me was that “Germans have the tendency to stick to their way of doing things and support their way not because they can’t do it differently, but because they don’t want to”. Explaining the stupidity of that to him and talking about it with him would bring nothing except ruining our evening. I let it pass. Good, that we didn’t see him twice that evening. The ordering procedure before and waiting time after was really excellent. We didn’t have the feeling that there was even a minute too long. The starters were very tasty and the recipes very well thought. The cumin in the “sarmadakia” a brilliant idea. We decided to take the pork kontosouvli and the lamb. Both came with fries on the side. They were both extremely EXTREMELY dry. It was obvious that the pork has been a piece of meat just spinning around in its own fat and full stop. There has been absolutely no spices or any effort for it. Since I was living next door from there, I was going every single day through and have seen this meat spinning around on its skewer since the opening of the restaurant. Therefore very dry. Same case with the lamb! Oh! BTW there are hundreds of wasps this time on the island. During the night, you’ll have no problem. Please do not even consider coming during the day. They have set an ugly dirty tray with sweets out as a “bait” to them. Still the wasps come on you. We ended up ordering the bill. I went inside to pay and saw sweets with ice cream being prepared to be brought to tables. One of this was the table next to us. They didn’t order the sweet. The waiter asked them after ordering for the bill if they would like to have some sweet on the house. This is a typical thing in Greece. We were never asked. Well seems like “on the house” comes only if you are from a certain nationality. We found that extremely rude. So two dry bad cooked and prepared main courses with a spicy sauce of racism and a side dish of rudeness for 60€. Thank you but...
Read moreWe were lucky that our apartment (Kalderimi) was near this amazing place… If you're looking for a place that captures the true essence of Greek cuisine and hospitality, this taverna is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed by a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to forget the outside world. The food is nothing short of excellent. Every dish tastes homemade in the best way possible—rich with flavor, cooked with care, and served with pride. The quality of the meat stands out immediately: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The Greek salad was the best I’ve had—fresh, crisp vegetables, creamy feta, and just the right touch of olive oil and herbs. Even the fries stood out—they were homemade from fresh potatoes, not the usual frozen kind. What truly surprised me was the ravania served at the end—it was moist, perfectly sweet, and simply the best I’ve ever had. A real treat from the house that shows how much they care about the details. To top it all off, the wine served was sweet, smooth, and paired beautifully with the meal. The staff were lovely—friendly…This taverna offers not just a meal, but an experience that stays with you. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good food and a quiet, authentic atmosphere. Tucked away in a small village, this charming taverna sits a little uphill—just enough to make you wonder what awaits at the top. But let me tell you, the short climb is...
Read moreThe place is good and deserves more than two stars. I leave two stars with hope of the review being seen, heard and taken into account.
The waiting times were long even for a Friday evening. Two of us ordered the same meal. After quite some time the meal was finally brought - only for one person. We went to ask about the second one, the waiter accepted his mistake, apologized and in no time we received the second meal.
Additionally, we received bread on the table upon sitting down at the table - which was lovely. When ordering the meals, we ordered another batch of bread. We didn't receive it - which wasn't a big deal.
When we got the bill (after a long wait time and two reminder requests to the waiters), we saw another mistake - the forgotten meal was counted three times instead of two. We managed to get the attention of a waiter and asked about the issue. The issue was resolved in no time - we received a correct version of the bill. Upon further reading, however, we saw that the bread we hadn't received is also counted into the bill. This wasn't resolved, with the older waiter claiming it's the bread that we received from the start. Not sure about that.
In conclusion, the nuisances we have experienced were only nuisances. The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, the waiters didn't manage to pay proper attention to us - which is something to...
