Ξανθίππη — Restaurant in Xanthi Municipality

Have booked a room which normally is available at 2:00pm. Have travelled all the way from the other part of Greece having walked up at 5am. Arrive at the hotel at 10am and ask if there is a room available. (Tuesday April 16th). I can clearly see that there are MANY keys in the boxes behind the reception signifying there are many rooms available. The lady in the reception tells me that there is not going to be a room available before 2pm. Take a walk around the beautiful old city of Xanthi. Return back to the hotel at 12:00. Ask if there is a room available (still PLENTY of keys in the boxes) The lady replies there is only going to be at 2:00. I get angry and I explain that I have travelled a long way and I NEED a room and if I have to pay extra I will. She realizes she has to speak with someone higher on the hierarchy. 10 minutes later she gives me the key for 210. It’s good to have typical standards but more important to not forget we are human beings. By the way PHILOXENIA is supposed to be a Greek word. P.S. no bottled water in the room. Beautiful coffee place and restaurant with traditional Greek cuisine. The atmosphere is really nice and you can have a panoramic view of the city of Xanthi. Για 4 ενήλικες και 3 παιδιά χρέωσαν 7 κουβερ,αλλά έφεραν 6 ψωμάκια και 6 γλυκάκια στο τέλος. Κρεατικά ανάλατα με πολύ γλυκές ανοστες σάλτσες. Το κοτόπουλο φιλέτο στεγνο και άγευστο. Το γουρουνοπουλο στη γάστρα μέτριο και ο πουρές που το συνοδεύε ανοστος ως νοσοκομειακος θα έλεγα. Ζητήσαμε αγγουροντοματα αλλά μας απάντησαν πως φτιάχνουν μόνο ότι αναγράφεται στο μενού. Σουτζουκάκια-πιτακια μέτρια με επίσης ανοστες σάλτσες. Πατάτες τηγανητές υπερβολικά χοντροκομμένες χωρίς να καταλαβαίνω τον σκοπό που εξυπηρετεί αυτό κάνοντας τες και αυτές εξίσου ανοστες με ότι άλλο δοκιμάσαμε.
