Kaki Rahi Taverna — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

We went on the trainkini to here. 20 euros per person to go on the train to this place to look at a museum made by the owner of the land. We went to see the old church with the well in and smellt the water with heavy amounts of sulphur and the stink to go with it. There was a guide who was very funny, knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable. After the church, we all sat down to salad, chips , or other simple meals prepared. Don't expect much as it I'd basic menu but good prices. You also get a small jug of red or white homemade wine per person. The whole train ride, food, museum, and everything else combined was worth the 20 euros each, but I would not do it again as once done that would be it for me. However, many of us were shocked to see the cats and kittens in such a bad state. The cats looked OK ish but the kittens were walking around meowing and visibly malnourished. There was dry cat food out and plenty of water, but the kittens were not eating the dry biscuits. We think mum milk may have dried up. It was heartbreaking to see. The place is beautiful, very peacefully with a huge plane tree shade and running water sounds!There is a nice view of Zakynthos' lowland full of olive trees. The taverna is decorated in the old traditional style making your experience unique! The service is fast and the staff very friendly! The food is average. It's worth a visit if you want to rest enjoying the nature in a small traditional village! Don't miss to visit the local museum that helds a nice collection of local traditional furniture and agricultural tools of more than 200 years old!!! Небольшая деревенская таверна, с небольшим меню. В меню только греческие блюда и нет каких-то особых деликатесов - простая, но вкусная и свежая еда. Подаются очень быстро. Ждать нам не пришлось. В таверне есть открытая площадка, на воздухе, в тени платанов и маслин, украшенная старинными предметами обихода. Есть также закрытое помещение, в котором, вероятно, отмечают все свои торжества жители деревни. Главное в этой таверне - это персонал: несколько пожилых мужчин, очень душевно, гостеприимно и по-домашнему, обслуживающих посетителей. Подача блюд также очень простая - это не парижский трехзвездочный мишленовский ресторан. Но посуда и фраже, которыми сервировали наш стол были чистыми. Нас, дополнительно к нашему заказу, угостили двумя кувшинами местного вкусного вина, белого и красного, а также огромной порцией изюма.
