Table booked for 6 friends to have a festive lunch together. We have been coming here every Christmas for a few years. We were all looking forward to it. On arrival we were shown to our table which was reserved and had reserved on it. We noticed our table had not been set properly as had no water and no pots of chutneys but all the other tables did. We were waiting for one more friend but no-one asked us if we wanted a drink. Once the friend arrived we were still left sitting and sitting so in the end after approx half an hour had passed I went out and politely informed the waitress we were ready so could someone come and take our order. She grabbed a pad and pen but didn't smile and appeared that this was too much trouble. She did reluctantly take a order but she was not happy and when my friend asked if we could have some water and also asked if we were having some pots of chutney she was very abrupt and not very nice. She went off to the counter and I seen her through the window telling her colleague all about it.. me and my friends couldn't quite believe her offish attitude but we all agreed it was not going to upset our get together. Another waitress came with our drinks and we asked her if we could have her as our waitress as the other one was very rude. This waitress was lovely and nothing was too much trouble and she looked after us well even though she was run off her feet she was great ( I think her name was Jen??) The food was ok, not as good as other years.. the soup was lovely but we had to ask for butter. My beef stroganoff was all rice with hardly any stroganoff and the beef was very dry on top. My friends roast was luke warm and there was a mix up with the gluten free meal and dessert. Christmas pudding was delicious but the poached pear was hard. This was not a cheap meal £30 for 3 courses.. I went to the Alverton today and had 3 courses for £28 and the food and service was excellent. Perhaps I could suggest that some of the waitresses need some training as to how to look...
Read moreVisited on a busy day.... large dining area with lots of tables under shelter. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available. Staff had obviously been busy as many tables were not cleared. The previous diner had even left their water flask on my table, so I handed it in. I had what was misleadingly called a Big Plate for £11 consisting of Roasted Courgette Panzanella Salad. It was not a generous portion at all and had a lot of croutons on. I was underwhelmed when it arrived and was left wishing I had ordered something else. It was meant to have heritage tomato, onion, basil, croutons and lemon and dill yoghurt. It was void of anything resembling an onion, so back I went to the counter. The young bloke just looked blank. It was sloppy service, almost like couldn't be bothered attitude. Quite some time later a waitress brought a plate of red onions for me to add. It did not fill me up as a meal and was overpriced for what was in the small bowl. Wouldn't choose to eat here again, nahh. If you're charging £11 for a small salad plate with missing ingredients does not make for...
Read moreFar more than you expect, the food is the best meal I have had in a very long time. This place is absolutely clean, the staff are top class (5/5) in every aspect. No idea where they got this high standard from, everyone is friendly, calm and very happy it seems. The food that comes out that kitchen is outstanding. Very tasty, very beautiful presented and perfect in price value balanced.
Never ever let the kitchen crew go, it's very rare that literally everything is perfect, but here it is.
We will definitely come back and try the BBQ place out.
We had the soup of the day (mushroom & miton) very nice taste, perfect amount, the bread on side was like grandma's homemade bread. A side of potatoes (mixed potatoes sweet and normal potatoes) And a burger with Salat, the burger was definitely the best pulled pork burger I have had, the bread again fantastic. We tried as well 2 cakes carrot cake and velvet cake, both not too dry and you could taste it was not...
