It is difficult for me to reconcile the glowing reviews for this place with my own recent experience. While the location of this small local restaurant is quite beautiful, I would not necessarily recommend it for several reasons. The service was okay; the two owners were present when we arrived, but nobody greeted us as we seated ourselves and waited for a while unsure if we were supposed to approach them. We ordered onion rings and chicken wings, one can of pop and one water, and the total came to 30$. The onion rings were great, but we paid 10$ US for "chicken wings" which consisted of two wings (yes two whole wings) that were quite tough and hardly filling. They also charged a 10% tax on the 30$ which we did not experience anywhere else that we ate on Roatan Island. After we settled in to eat one of the owners was very kind to us and we had very pleasant conversation. However, the prices at La Sirena were too high, and I would not recommend the chicken wings unless you are looking for a light, chewy and...
Read moreFood, amazing. Best fish and lobster I’ve had on Roatan. Beats all those retirement home/cruise ship traps in west bay and west end.
The service and atmosphere was unreal. It felt like I was living in a postcard. The owner took the upmost care and attention to us.
The rum punch was very tasty, and the only mixed drink I enjoyed on the island.
We saw so many fishes and a big green eel under and around the dock while waiting for our meals. The other staff members shared knowledge about the fish and area with delight.
After our meal, we walked up the beach and had a sunset swim. The resto dog, Ranger, came along with us and was great company.
Overall this was my favourite meal and day on the island. The hot sauce was fantastic. Lion fish deeeelicious.
Well worth renting a car and driving the hour to find this secluded paradise away from the masses on west beach.
Would recommend to all...
Read moreI could have given the place 5 stars just for the view--it's a great place to watch the sunset. But... Down to 4 stars because the bartender was too busy smoking and chatting with his pals to accurately make the "famous" rum punches that our group ordered. Less another star for those rum punches costing $6 in a country where the average daily wage is less than $20. Knocked off the last two stars because the bartender assumed that I wouldn't notice or complain about the blatant inflation of our tab. Somehow the 15 total drinks we ordered resulted in a $180 tab. I complained. By all means, go have a drink at La Sirena and enjoy the lovely view. But if a greasy-haired white guy with a joint hanging from his lips is minding the bar, pay him for each drink you order when he actually hands it to you or suffer the...
