This was my first time at Snappers.....Came in the late afternoon, so didn't get to experience their lunch buffet, but enjoyed the entree and entree-salad I had. I got the grilled shrimp and chose the cabbage 'slaw' as the side dish. Also got the Ceasar salad with grilled shrimp. Either alone would have been a small meal and not quite enough for a hungry guy. The two together made a pretty big meal. (1.5 dishes would have been about right, but I managed. 😆) All for $20.
The Caesar Salad was really tasty. (Notice in the picture that I polished that off before I even thought to take a picture. Oops.) My only complaint is that the salad had a bit too much of the creamy dressing they use. (Note: Though this came with Parm cheese and croutons, this is not a traditional Ceasar Salad. More like a cross between that and a lettuce slaw.) The grilled shrimp was tossed with grilled or sauteed bell peppers & onions. The shrimp were very small....close to the same size as the tiny ones tossed in the Ceasar Salad. That's okay by me, but these still had their tails on. Those in the Salad did not. If you're going to serve the shrimp tossed with strips of peppers, onions, and spices, I'd like to be able to eat everything with a fork. But, since they had tails on, I found it easier/better to pick them up (by the tail) with my fingers. - Easier, but messy. This wasn't a big deal, but I don't get it....The Salad shrimp had no tails. It just seemed odd. The side of cabbage "slaw" was more like a Cabbage ceviche to me, since it had diced peppers and what seemed to be a lime/acid dressing.....delicious. There was also a small cup of acidic hot sauce (presumably for dipping the shrimp in?)....tasty, but pretty hot.
The setting is open air and very basic, but the location on the water is beautiful.
The service was just okay. No one greeted me right away, but it was pleasant enough when I ordered at the counter and when the food was brought out. No one said anything when I left (and there was hardly anyone there, and the staff wasn't doing anything).
So, a few tweaks would be nice, but I still really enjoyed the meal as it was, and I definitely plan on...
Read moreThe food here was good. I recommend the conch and the rice bowel. The street pastelitos and baleados were better than the ones here. These didn’t have as much flavor. I’m sure everything else on the menu is really good. They also have a buffet but you have to ask them about it. It is not on their menu. The buffet looked closed up (had lids over the food) when we got there when it actually wasn’t. The dessert they had was really good ( I don’t remember the name but, it wasn’t on the menu). Some of the cashiers do not speak much English so be patient with them. They did mess up my order I believe due to communication but, it was something small. The restaurant is pretty neat just...
Read moreI visited Snapper's after being taken during a tour from one of the local guides instead of booking an excursion through my cruise line. He said their food was really good and he didn't lie! I enjoyed the tasty, tender, well seasoned stew chicken. The best rice and peas I've ever had they were so flavorful. The plantains were delectable, slightly sweet and fried perfectly. The portion size was good. I tried to finish my plate but couldn't. I washed my meal down with their delicious fresh juice 😋 I can't wait to return to Roatan again and visit this gem with delicious food, good service, and an even...
