We have been coming to this restaurant for more than 15 years. Last time it was so so- certainly far from the great experience we remembered from the past, but this time it was so disappointing that they lost our business forever. Also, it was embarrassing as I invited friends who have been dying to try this restaurant out. Well, this was their last time here as well. Although we had a reservation we got a table "outside" on the enclosed patio, which would have been fine, except every time the door opened the cold air blasted in. I asked but they could not move us. Thank you for the blanket though... They should forget about seating in this area during cold season. Also, it is a 2 star loss in ambience compared to inside seating! Service was confusing and impersonal- although we had 5 or 6 waiters we still had a hard time getting someone's attention when we needed something. Also, it would be nice if the wait staff could remember who ordered which dish (fine dining right?). I missed the old times when the chef sent out a taster. That used to be a nice touch. 2 dishes out of 4 were delicious. One was mediocre and my angus steak dish was unchewable. This was my first time I ever sent a dish back. The immediate response was professional - I was asked for having something else instead. Then what really made me angry - totally unprofessional and unacceptable in my ex-hospitality world- the waiter came back & said they examined the dish- he, his colleague, and the chef- and there was nothing wrong with it- it was cooked to specifications. I replied it was not about how it was cooked- I like my steak medium rare to medium (ordered it that way!) but I had a problem with the texture that it was like an old chewing gum (same thing I said the first time). Please bear in mind you are at fine dining establishment and you are there to please your customers. Don't ever question them- just make them happy. As simple as that. After our friend paid and we left I saw on the bill- the dish was never deducted from the price. Overall, Kistucsok now is simply an overpriced mediocre restaurant, which runs more on its old glory rather than on...
Read moreWe came for a late lunch because there were no free tables left for dinner. It’s worth booking 2-3 days ahead if you want to come at a later time. The place is very beautiful; we got a table on the outdoor terrace, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I recommend that, if possible, don’t ask for a table by the wall next to the main road at lunchtime—even though the traffic isn’t too heavy, it can be a bit disturbing when motorcyclists rev their engines at the red light.
The service was really, really good, the waiter was very attentive. My girlfriend just mentioned in passing that she’s kazein intolerant, and they kept it in mind the whole time. When it came to ordering dessert, my girlfriend just quickly said she’d have some of mine and didn’t want a separate one, but they still brought her a spoon too.
The food was also excellent. I had venison loin, and my girlfriend ordered roasted cauliflower with a separate duck breast. We had to wait a bit, but while we waited, they brought us a little appetizer without us having to ask. Everything was really delicious, the venison was well cooked, tender and juicy. The flavors of the cauliflower were in perfect harmony. For dessert, we tried corn pudding, which I’d never had before, it had a very special flavor profile, definitely worth trying.
The coffee was good too; though I ordered an iced coffee, you could still tell that it was made from quality coffee. I can recommend both flavors of lemonade, too: the lemon is pleasantly tart and really lemony, while the passion fruit is fresh and sweet!
Overall, everything was great and we had a really...
Read moreWe went to the restaurant for dinner, we did not stay at the hotel. First of all the service was very disappointing, after having the menu for only a minute they wanted to know what we wanted to eat without having explained the specials.
We ordered 4 dishes but only received 3, which I'm glad because the food was fairly disappointing. We had ordered 2 appetizers a chicken soup and asparagus dish. We did not receive the asparagus even after we pointed to it on the menu and explained to the waiter we would each be having an appetizer and not sharing.
The chicken soup was very bland, the risotto main was ok but not great ( it was recommended over the other dishes by the waiter). The venison which were were excited about trying and was highly recommend was very very dry and left a weird feeling in my mouth the sauce with it was supposed to be hunter sauce but was very sweet. Would not recommend
The service was also terrible, I wanted to pair wine with our courses and was.told.by the waiter the sommelier was very knowledgeable and would be over to make suggestions. He never came by our table despite the waiter supposedly asking him to twice. The sommelier provided other tables with tasting flights and spoke with everyone else but ignored us.
The waiter tried to suggest a wine but was not knowledgeable. When asked for an acidic, crisp, mineral white he suggested a fruity sweetish wine because "most women order it" definably not what I was...
