0 stars would be given if possible to describe my feelings about this place after recent visit.
My wife and I were on our way back from Pecs and decided to detour and mark my birthday by the way of quite Sunday lunch . Despite being quite busy as expected we were greeted and seated and soon after our host , gentleman by the name of Dulo (my apology if I got it wrong) ,presented us with wine card and menus and after short introduction and what appeared to be quite knowledgeable host we settled for a house champagne and were left to study our menus. As we were not particularly hungry we asked our host D. recommendation however none given we placed our order , or we tried but we were met with some explanation which we couldn’t understand straight away so we ask for some more help.
And that was a point where horrible horror experience starts .
Our host D. obviously frustrated embarked on a quite loud monologue in Hungarian language ,causing several other patrons to stir , looking quite puzzled as what is going on , wrote some prices on menu and told us to study it and he will return. I’m still not sure why we haven’t got up and left after this , I guess we were quite stunned and embarrassed, anyway we returned to our menus pondering what we did wrong. It was only than that we noticed small section nested between dessert and sides , quite obscured, explaining how menu is structured . At no point despite being obvious that this was our first visit our host D. made zero effort to point on this small detail but very quickly made us feel like idiots.
I’m normally not bothered by small petty things but our host D. should probably learn that placing cutlery on top of the wine card does not look very professional also assuming who order what and placing order randomly without even a hint of concern.
Our previous experience with menus like this was that host will immediately point at the options and variations in case we not familiar with it.
Restaurant and location are quite nice and food was good , a credit to owners and chefs however our experience and ability to enjoy any of that was taken away by one member of staff to the point that quite frankly we couldn’t wait to leave , not even one photo taken despite meant to be a celebratory lunch experience.
We will not return and most definitely not recommend this place to our friends, family and...
Read moreReserved a week in advance yet got the worse table on the side corridor with no air in 32 degrees. We had the choice to get boiled or roasted on the sun as there was nothing else available (no shade as well). The waiter lady had no idea what she was doing and she asked us if we supposed to get the 'welcome for two'. Bad start but it seemed they will bring at back as the appetizers were nice. We were never so wrong! The waiter dropped the dirty knife on my wife making a nice and visible stain. With a short sorry he run away and we did not see him until the main course when he pretended nothing happened. No offer of a tissue or at least showing her where is the bathroom where she could try to get rid of the stain..we had to find someone else to ask. The main course came and I can honestly say I never had anything awful like this in my life. It meant to be a tomahawk steak, however it was boiled, chewy messy and nothing what a steak supposed to be. I still feel sorry for what they did to the poor meat. I asked the waiter what it is and why and surprisingly he said this is not the first complain as the management pushes them to seat 200 people what the kitchen simply can not handle so when is like this they can not guarantee the quality. On top he admitted that their 'star chef' was away too which was an other room for error. I asked him to let the management know about the issues because they will receive many complaints like this. He did so from there and on the so called manager ignored us and walked beside like we don't exist. No sorry no nothing. It immediately made perfect sense why everything is so 'ucked up there. We cancelled the desserts and just wanted to leave. The cherry on top was the bill, where the only discount they made for the inconvenience was the 2x100ml wine. They charged us 27k huf with full service charge after all what has happened. Well, we will never be back that is for sure and I suggest you also to avoid this place. Go to Mandula or Bock restaurant instead and you will have great experience. Fun fact: we met people right after at Bock who also left from this awful place to eat...
Read moreSunday Lunch at Sauska Winery Restaurant – A Perfect Culinary Experience with a Fireplace and View of the Vineyards
Our Sunday lunch at the Sauska Winery Restaurant was truly an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was both elegant and cozy, enhanced by the warmth of the fireplace and the stunning view of the vineyards. The setting and ambiance were in perfect harmony with our meal.
Every dish we had was outstanding. The foie gras pâté was creamy and rich in flavor, perfectly paired with fresh, crispy bread. The foie gras steak was simply perfect – tender, delicious, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The pike-perch was fresh, delicately prepared, and the sides complemented the fish beautifully. The cottage cheese dumplings were a true classic, light, not overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal.
The wines, of course, perfectly complemented the meal and further enhanced the flavors of each dish. The selection of Sauska wines was impeccable, and each wine pairing truly elevated the experience.
Sitting by the fireplace with the breathtaking view of the vineyards created a unique and special atmosphere. The entire experience made for a truly exceptional Sunday lunch that I would highly recommend to any food enthusiast. Sauska Winery Restaurant will definitely be our choice for the...
